I’m 54 and in group 9 (over 50s) but was fully vaccinated quite early (March) . I’m now 6 months post my second jab and wondered whether I will have to wait for everyone in groups 1-8 to be called for their boosters first, even though some of them won’t be 6 months post their second jab for a while? Or will they just look at when 6 months is up? Thanks.

My dad was vaccinated in march and was called up and had his yesterday. He is high risk.

I don't think it'll be done in the order it was originally as so many pharmacies and village halls near me are planning to open up to do jabs. So I think it'll be done on order but much faster .

Thank you @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor - glad your dad has had his booster. I was in group 9 last time but managed to get mine early - not sure whether I will have to wait a long time for my booster or not.

If it’s done in group order I might have to go to 8 or 9 months post my second jab - hoping that won’t be the case, because I had my second jab early after only 4 weeks (Pfizer).

I read that they are going to do the over 70's, healthcare workers, vulnerable people, people in care homes etc first in "Phase 1" and then the over 50's in Phase 2 subject to vaccine supply.

I'm 45 and will be six months past my 2nd dose on 5 Jan. Seems I won't be getting one despite 5 Jan being deepest winter.

The 6 month gap is the minimum but it's not the case that immunity falls off a cliff at that point, especially for people your age.

I wouldn't want to have mine before the six months because this booster will probably have to last until next autumn. I'm assuming it will become annual.

My second dose was 6 months ago - so not wanting it eating than that. I work in a school where all restrictions have been dropped, per the government guidelines.

Actually, there must be a bunch of people this applies to though, I can see how if you worked in healthcare then and then retired or left since, that you could be in group 9 and six months post vax.

I don't know. They must have a plan though.

Thanks - I have tried booking through the site but it says I’m not eligible yet. I was actually vaccinated as part of the com-cov mixed vaccine trial but ended up with 2 Pfizer’s 4 weeks apart. It’s all been uploaded onto the NHS app and the trial is effectively over. I was actually group 6 rather than group 9 due do previous history of pulmonary embolism, but don’t know if they’ve changed the classifications so assuming i might be group 9 now.

The scenario isn't really spelled out on the jcvi statement. I think the 6 month mark broadly brings in the cohorts in for a booster in the same order and this is how it's been reported in simple terms in the press. But I think, looking at the wording, it's just a matter of falling into group 1 and then turning up six months after the second jab. So I think you'll get it in September.

I'm not sure that they have firmly decided that a 6 month booster is required by everyone.

I hope that's the purpose of me stabbing my finger for blood samples every month.

We're about the only country that was using AZ rather than Pfizer in any quantity 6 months ago so I am not sure that they can tell yet.

That’s interesting @RuthW thank you. A nurse friend of mine has just told me today that they are sticking rigidly to the original groups… I’ll have to wait snd see I suppose.

We are doing walk in boosters as long as it is more than 6 months since the last jab.

@Cookerhood do you need proof that you are still an nhs worker or is it purely based on the length of time since last vaccine?

No, we were doing people who aren't NHS workers - quite a few were of course as they were amongst the first to be done, plus a lot of oldies. As far as I know if you are over 50 & it's more than 6 months you can be done - but check with your local drop in centre
