How does this work?!

Me and DP have had strong positives on LFT this morning. Been for PCR this afternoon.

School gave said if children are negative they should be in.

But we've got no way of getting them there as we're obviously now isolating for 10 days.

My friend said they could fine us for none attendance?! Is this correct? Still waiting for reply from school to confirm.

In theory they can fine you but legally you shouldnt leave home so I dont think the fine would stand up if you disputed it.

Some people have said the school have collected children from home in this situation.

Personally i would much prefer people kept kids at home in this situation

How old are the children ? Do you have a neighbour or friend who would be willing to collect and drop off for you ? It's shit and added stress for parents. Have you tested the children with PCR's if not you should. I hope you don't feel too bad and have a speedy recovery 💐

Neighbour has offered but I wouldn't feel comfortable putting her in that position to be honest. It is a risk despite what the new rules to say I would feel awful if my child passed anything on to them.

The children are and 6 and 7 and have had PCRs with us this afternoon. 11 year old has done LFT which was neg.

I agree! I think it's the safest option.

They can still access school work from home.

I think it's crazy too and as a family we've already decided that if we have a positive case we will all isolate regardless of the stupid rules. Whilst I appreciate not everyone can do that, it will impact us financially so not a boasting brag.
There's a CEV child in my daughters class so I just wouldn't feel comfortable putting that child or others at risk.

I don't understand these new rules, it's classic Boris. Isolate but don't isolate, if your vaccinated don't isolate but do isolate, if you're a young superspreader carry on as usual Hmm

AwFeebs · 19/09/2021 15:39

Exactly, I wouldn't feel comfortable sending my children in knowing they have been in super close contact with positive cases.

I just hope we don't end up with a fine for something out of our control.
