I cannot for the life of me work out what we need to do covid-wise to travel to Gran Canaria on 4 Oct. Help!

Travelling as a family to Gran Canaria from UK for a week on 4 Oct.

Two adults, fully vaccinated.
One 12 year old. Not vaccinated.
One 10 year old. Not vaccinated.

Expecting GC to be a green list country by the time we go. Pretty sure this means that DH and I only have to take a test on day 2 after we return.

No flipping idea what it means for the DC. Testing before we travel, before we return, after we return, all or none of these?

And I also can't figure out if they have to isolate on return. I hadn't even considered this. Might make us unpopular with school.

I've trawled the government website and read heaps of articles but am just getting more and more confused.

Help!

The rules have just changed this evening. It might take the gov pages a few hours to be fully up to date.

Just heard on bbc news, who had had confirmation from govt, that kids will be treated same as vaccinated adults

So no Pre departure to return test, either lateral flow or pcr after 2 days being home ( depending on if they have switched to lateral flow or not) and no self isolation as long as canaries don’t go on red list

The kids will need PCR tests to enter Spain
You all complete the spanish health form (1 family form is fine) 48 hrs before arrival
Both adults will show vaccine certs

No pre departure tests in Gran Canaria but you all need day 2 tests - plus a passenger locator form for both adults (kids can go on one of the adult forms)

No isolation for all

My husband thinks only our older child needs a PCR test to enter Gran Canaria. Do you have a link I can look at, I'm so confused!

We are going to Majorca on the 7th of October and as far as I was aware my DC who is 7 didn’t need any tests. Now I am wondering if I have interpreted that incorrectly.

Watapalava · 17/09/2021 20:08

Sorry I misread! Yes under 12 done need tests

Watapalava · 17/09/2021 20:08

I mean they won’t need pre Spain tests

All need day 2

sleepwouldbenice · 18/09/2021 10:17

So just to confirm please for going to canaries ( I think I am clear re coming back as long as govt sort out moving to lateral flow by then, which they won’t….)

Just to confirm though our 14 year olds would need a pcr test taken within 72 hours of travel (or arrival in canaries?). I do worry about getting results back in time….

Watapalava · 18/09/2021 20:32

yes they do

I used randox express pcr at the airport - 3 hr results so drove up the day before for ease
