Positive contact in plane (double vac)

Has anyone been contacted by t&t after coming back to the uk since august because someone tested positive on their plane ? Did you have to self isolate even if you were doble vac? I had the impression you didn’t have to but a friend has received today the email.
I flew back on Saturday myself so I’m in the “critical” period of being contacted. Both our tests have been negative and we had a ffp2.

Doesn’t make sense to me that if someone at work tests positive and I’m not wearing a face mask i don’t have to self isolate but I do if I came back on a plane where face masks are compulsory and my test has been negative.

Thanks !

They will call to ascertain your vaccine status - at the moment they just have details from the flight list.
If you are double vaxed +14 days prior to exposure they will advise that you don’t need to isolate.
You should get a call, just go through the questions with them and they will tell you then.

Thanks! I was reading tbe government and website and seems like my friend will receive tbe call and proceed as you’ve mentioned. Think she’s been provided pfizer but outside of uk so might still have to self isolate

Yes I think she will have to unfortunately.
You will only be contacted if there has been an exposure on your flight.
Best thing is to answer the call if you get one and they will explaining what you need to do.

No you don’t. I had a text and an email. You have to follow a link to the gov.uk site and confirm your contact details, where you have travelled from and your vaccine status, and are then told you don’t need to self isolate but are recommended to take a PCR test.

EasterIssland · 16/09/2021 07:14

Thanks @Dougt that was my understanding

Thankfully that doesn’t seem to be an issue anymore - if your friend was vaccinated in the EU or US she counts as fully vaccinated for UK isolation purposes.

It’s why those of us coming from amber countries only need a day 2 test instead of isolation + day 2-5-8 tests.

EasterIssland · 16/09/2021 07:22

Yeah that’s why it’s confusing. This is in the self isolating when being a contact (nothing to do with traveling )
Where it says the vaccination must have had happened in the Uk

Its a good thing they are informing people. They can be alert that symptoms that may follow might not just be a cold

Ha ha ha. That’s absolutely nuts.

I’ve stuck to every single rule but no way would I isolate simply because my Pfizer vaccine was administered in a less-glorious country than the UK. Do they even ask you that when T&T call you?

EasterIssland · 16/09/2021 07:45

No idea @EileenGC. She only told me last night we couldn’t meet because she had to self isolate. I told her it’s nuts that she’d be more protected than many of the contact cases and just because she was on a plane she would have to. Then I saw the comment about pfizer uk good. Pfizer Eu bad Hmm

She got the email last night so don’t think she’s spoken with t&t

I was contacted. The text message says you have to isolate but when you then go into the test and trace system to enter your details it clearly says you don't have to isolate if double vaccinated.

Lucythewonderdog · 16/09/2021 12:57

Double jabbed outside the UK close contacts have to isolate.

The double jabbed in UK/EU rule only applies for when you have travelled into the UK. Close contact is a different kettle of fish.

Lucythewonderdog · 16/09/2021 12:58

Above should say US/EU sorry.

Remmy123 · 16/09/2021 13:01

Yes my boss got an email to say contact on plane and no need to isolate if double jabbed but advisable to get PCR.

He was fine.

my friend flew from EU to UK and someone tested positive n her plane. She's being vaccinated in the EU.

Thought Pfizer would be the same here an EU/USA. and that they should be entitled to the same restrictions as me that I've been jabbed in the uk

No she still has to isolate. Sorry.

EasterIssland · 16/09/2021 20:16

T&t have told them to self isolate for 5 days since the contact (which has already happened ) and after 5 days they are allowed to go out but just trying to minimise contact.
