I'm not sure if the old thread is still active so I thought I'd start a new one for those who are or were shielded.
I was shielded, I'm double jabbed and my ds's school is full of covid with now over 10% of kids off with positive cases. Ds tested negative but has a sore throat, cough, snot, sneezing and slightly raised temperature. I have woken with a sore throat, headache and fever. We both tested negative at the weekend but since then cases at school have exploded. There's about 25 kids positive now over all but 2 year groups. I admit to feeling pretty anxious again about covid after being far more relaxed, but still very careful, over the summer. They've only been back at school a week and it's rife.

I followed shielding completely. Found out I was positive on Sunday after a weekly covid swab Saturday (needed for chemo). Have had to stop all my treatments until I’m out of isolation and to help me fight it. I had my booster just over a week ago. My children went for a test Sunday and my yr7 son has it. It’s quite bad at their school, they’ve introduced mask wearing again this week. I must of picked it up from him as I haven’t been anywhere. I was terrified of catching it but luckily I just have a cold, headache and have lost my sense of taste and smell so far.

Hi all, just wanted to join in

@FlatteredFool. I'm sorry to hear your child has tested positive, I hope they stay well and you stay clear.

@QuarantineQueen I also haven't heard re: third jab. My GP claims it doesn't exist, my renal team say it is down to GP nothing they can do. 119 won't book a booster or 3rd jab for me despite having my second on the 2 April, so technically 6m post. A nightmare.

We are lucky in that my children are primary age, and no cases reported since September in their school. It is a village school, so small naturally.

I still avoid going most places, will meet up with family and friends, but haven't eaten in a restaurant, stayed in hotel on holiday and organised room service for every meal, and only allowing children to go to events outside. I know I need to let go of my fear as my MIL tells me everyday but I'm finding it hard, especially knowing I have no antibodies after vaccine when tested.

Can we also play bingo with the amount off people that claim we're going to die soon anyway and don't matter because that's the one that upsets me the most. We don't get to choose the hand life gives us, we just learn to live with it.
