I am so poorly and really miserable

I’m sorry it’s another moaning thread but I am feeling so so poorly. I have nearly every symptom and it feels like full blown flu feels with aching and fever etc with the stupid cough and breathlessness on top. My head is pounding and stopping me from sleeping well.
I don’t normally feel this sorry for myself but it’s floored me and it’s only been a couple of days. Any general sympathy or stories of swift recovery would be appreciated! I’m fairly fit and in my early forties.
My dc have it too but with mild symptoms thankfully.

I really feel for you OP. Flowers Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink sips of fluids regularly. Are you managing to eat anything?

Blankspace4 · 13/09/2021 20:24

That’s terrible. Have you been vaccinated? Look after yourself and be patient. Don’t feel pressure to ‘Do’, just be.

Frogsandsheep · 13/09/2021 20:26

I’ve had both vaccines a few months ago which is why I’m so upset as I didn’t think it would be this bad. I know it could be worse and at least I’m not needing to go to hospital, but my husband is having to take unpaid leave to look after us all - it’s just shit.
I’m eating enough and pretty much the only symptom I haven’t got is that I can still taste and smell!

Don't rush to get better. Sleep or doze if you can. Other stuff can wait.

PersonaNonGarter · 13/09/2021 20:39

Me tooooooo! Sympathies, OP.

I am double vaxxed, wore a mask etc. Now on Day 10 and still very fucking ill. And both DCs still ill too. It’s very annoying.

SunIsBehindGreySky · 13/09/2021 20:42

It sounds like bad timing, a week later and this would havs been much milder.

Lots of fluids and rest.

I’m probably very dim but why?

Mrsbclinton · 13/09/2021 20:46

All you can do is rest, nap, plenty of fluids and good food/ nutrition.
Your body is using so much energy fighting you need to do as little as possible. Hope you feel better soon x

SunIsBehindGreySky · 13/09/2021 20:55

From my understanding, (you can go watch Dr John Campbell on YouTube for a better explanation), the first vaccine gives a certain amount of protection, which OP will have benefited from (she probably got a high vital load to be so ill) which means she is out of hospital. The second vaccine takes I think two weeks to work, so she wouldn't have had the full benefit of the second dose, had she caught the virus a week or two later she wouldn't have been so ill, if she had no first dose she would have been much more unwell.

Either way, get well soon everyone Flowers

Blankspace4 · 13/09/2021 21:15

But OP said she had the vaccines a few months ago, not weeks?

OP rest up, as others have said plenty of fluids, sleep, if you’re up to it find something comforting on Netflix. Take care

PersonaNonGarter · 13/09/2021 21:26

Honestly, the vaccine protection is pretty bullshit for me. I had my second in July and I am sick as a dog. Otherwise healthy early 40s.

It’s crap. And I think you are all mad for wanting fewer restrictions etc.

Porcupineintherough · 13/09/2021 21:42

Flowers OP Cv can make you so, so I'll, even if you are vaccinated. I think we read these accounts of people for whom it's like a mild head cold (my dh was like this) but it's not like that for many of us.

The good news is the duration of your illness is likely to be shorter because you are vaccinated and, of course, you are unlikely to be dangerously ill and 50% less likely to get long COVID. Dont try and rush your recovery though. Covid 19 is an illness that you need to convalesce from - your dh will just have to manage for another week or two.

Anon778833 · 13/09/2021 21:55

I hope you get better soon, OP Thanks

rosesarered321 · 13/09/2021 22:06

My sympathies OP, I hope you start feeling better soon.

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 13/09/2021 22:34

Sympathies OP, I was the same, double vaccinated, late 30s and normally healthy and was really unwell. I have definitely turned a corner today (day 9) and although I am by no means 100% I am definitely on the mend, fingers crossed for you too. Take it easy! I tried to do too much and felt very unwell.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rubbish. Like others have said lots or rest and don’t push yourself.
Please would you mind letting me know your symptoms? When you got them etc.
I have been feeling sick since Saturday night and sneezing now and runny nose, feel so tired and just wondered if others the same? Also temperature was only up very slightly last night. Woke in night with chills

ShaneTheThird · 14/09/2021 09:20

Op hope you feel better soon. I have it too and I'm 29 and feel shit. I'm 7 days in. Mine started with a mild cough then a blocked nose then breathlessness then feeling exhausted and head cold. Now I still have a blocked nose, no taste or smell a mild cough and I'm tired and headaches but think I'm better than I was.

Frogsandsheep · 14/09/2021 09:37

@Workinghardeveryday

It started with a sore throat and dry cough. My eyes also went red.
My son had already tested positive so I knew what it was although I tested negative on a LFT and then positive on a PCR 2 hours later! I only took a pcr because of my son’s positive and had no symptoms at the time I took the pcr. The symptoms developed between taking the pcr and getting the result.

Ive now got a cough and breathlessness, horrendous headache, sore throat, aching bones, shaking (although thankfully my temperature isn’t excessively high) and a runny nose. I’m bed ridden. If I had to choose the worst symptom it would be the headache today but it was the aching bones in the night.

@Frogsandsheep that sounds awful, I really hope you feel better soon. Just try and sleep as much as you can and drink plenty. Nice bath might help you feel better maybe if your up to it x

ShaneTheThird · 14/09/2021 10:53

I know so many people who have been double jabbed and knocked for six with covid.Whereas my husband and myself late 50s/early 60s not jabbed recovered from covid after 3 weeks. We both felt tired and flu like, plus loss of taste but within a month totally back to normal. I don't shout about my non vaccinated status because of disapproval, but so many people say well at least you were double jabbed which is why you got it so mildly. Speechless when told unjabbed.
Not anti covid jab, but think if you are youngish, no underlying heath conditions and not overweight your immune system is a wonderful thing.
