My daughter felt ill Wednesday morning. Slight temp, headache so kept off school. Was advised by school to do lateral flow test... came up immediately positive. Tested rest of family and all negative. My husband's work don't want him in for 10 days ..even though he's double jabbed, no symptoms and testing negative on lateral flows. School happy for our other children to attend as long as symptom free and negative tests. Bit confused as thought husband could go to work? Daughter has been confirmed positive today by PCR test.

If your husband's work has told him to stay home, that's what he needs to do.

Husband can go to work but individual firms will have preferences, and his sound sensible

I believe the rule is that adult close contacts must isolate.

Seems crazy to me that your DD’s siblings are permitted in school despite having been in close contact with her.

I hope she gets well soon.

kimlo · 12/09/2021 08:17

he can go to work, under 18's and double jabbed don't have to isolate. But his work don't want to take the risk.

As close contacts it's recomended that you all get a pcr.

Thanks, yes I guess it's up to his work which is fine. It's just that they said they had checked the rules and that he must stay away 10 days, and I just thought hang on but haven't the rules have changed? It does seem crazy that only my daughter has to isolate. I feel like we should all be isolated like the old rules anyway.

I've also ordered the rest of us pcr tests too.

Where are you? Rules can differ between UK nations.

Dee1975 · 12/09/2021 08:32

If double jabbed he doesn’t need to self isolate. However, a company has the right to have their own polices. The company I work for have the same policy. If someone you live with tests positive, we don’t want you in.

However - is he still able to work from home / will he be getting paid?? If they won’t pay him then that’s a different story and I’d say you need to put this on in the employment board …

catchyjem · 12/09/2021 08:41

We are in England. He works for a big national company. Can't work from home, but I'm sure he will be paid as normal as he has been when he's had to isolate in the past so not worried about that. Just surprised really as I thought his company would be the sort to just follow the current rules. But thinking about it now, he does work in close contact with the public, so it does seem reckless that the rules would allow him to go in as normal so his work are quite sensible really.

When you track and trace he will get a text and then complete a questionnaire on nhs which will show exemption due to jabs - he should then show work and ask if it's isolation rules England or their firm rules / policy

kimlo · 12/09/2021 08:48

it's the companys policy. He is exempt from isolation because he's double jabbed regardless of what his job is.

If it was me I would be expected to do a pcr but I would have to go to work.
