Hi!

My partner brought covid home and I got it 3 days later (4 days ago), now our 2 months old daughter behaves like she got it too.
She started to have 37.2-37.3, but first I thought maybe it was overheating coz we couldn't reduce temperatures inside the house and it was 26.6 last few days. But I've reduced it down with cold muscling hanged on the cot.

Today morning her temp went down to 36.7 but now is back up again, 25.2 inside the house. Window is open to allow fresh air and air purifier is on.

2 days ago she was awake for entire day, didn't wanna have a single nap, only in my arms after feed.
From yesterday she is crying during sleep, waking up and crying in pain like she wants to poop but today only farts are coming, no poop for past 3-4 nappies.
I'm breastfeeding and from yesterday evening she also started to cry while feeding. Today she looks like she doesn't have much power as she will drink a little and is falling asleep, there is no way to wake her up and make her drink more. She is spitting up much more than usual.

Another issue I've noticed is bump on top of her head, I'm touching her head all the time and I've only noticed that 2 days ago, my partner says it's her skull changing shape but for me that is a bump, above brain, and no she didn't hit herself, it's out of reach for her little hands.
She also started to touch her ear a lot and now I'm also worrying is an ear infection.
Is that another covid symptom?

No doctor will check anything as we are self isolating.

I will also mention that it looks like my milk supply has reduced, as before I was leaking like crazy now I don't need breast pads. I've read on another topic that breast milk with antibodies has different colour. Mine doesn't, does it mean I don't produce any?

I don't have much support from my partner as he says daughter is fine and that I'm looking for bad things.... but I only worry about my child coz I see she wasn't like that, and I want to prevent bad things from happening.

Oh, and on better days/hours she is a happy girl who still wanna talk to me and smile so that gives me some hope.

Any advice on above please?

PS I'm new here so I don't exactly know all short terms used by everyone here yet!

Thanks in advance.

If you are concerned about your baby, I would call your GP practice or 111. They will see you as they have procedures in place for those who are Covid positive.

You are her mother and mums know best. Rather than worrying yourself about her, I would get her checked for your piece of mind. Always better to be safe than sorry.

StickyThighs · 10/09/2021 16:35

Definitely call 111, much better to speak with a qualified medical expert than us randoms online. At 8 weeks your DD is still super tiny and any medical professional will take your concerns seriously a covid or not.
Good luck, please call them.

ifonly4 · 10/09/2021 16:44

As said before, if you're concerned phone the doctor. They should have measures in place, but if they're reluctant they should do a consultation over something like zoom or on the phone with photos/video of your DD of your DD when she's upset and a photo of her head.

flower11 · 10/09/2021 16:56

Phone 111 they are usually quite risk adverse. They sent a paramedic out to check on my covid positive neighbour.

I can't help with all your questions, but I saw this was de-bunked the other day. You'll be producing antibodies, almost certainly.

First link I found on this: www.analyticalarmadillo.co.uk/2019/09/no-you-cant-see-antibodies-in-your.html#:~:text=Colostrum%20is%20not%20coloured%20by%20antibodies.&text=What's%20more%2C%20colostrum%20can%20vary,in%20the%20fat%2C%20NOT%20antibodies.

Have wet nappies decreased?
Is it actually a depression? In the fontanelle?

trunumber · 10/09/2021 17:53

If she doesn't have the strength to breastfeed I think you need to call 111 and get her seen as soon as you can.

(It's normal for breast milk to stop leaking at about 8 weeks so I wouldn't necessarily be too worried about your supply)

MaggiesMummy · 10/09/2021 19:57

Called 111, they asked if she can open her eyes for few seconds, I said she is sleeping, but they told me to try wake her up and engage, she didn't want too. Made few noises and closed eyes again. 111 said they are sending ambulance to check on her and that it will be with us within 18 mins.

2 hours later, no ambulance but at least she finally did a poop/diarrhoea. Been awake for nappy change and back at boobie sleeping! I hope they will come sooner than later and we will be able to get some rest.

Just curious what type of ambulance it will be... normal paramedics or if they can send someone with actual baby's knowledge.

The bump would concern me, like A bulging?

I would call 111 again and ask where the ambulance is!

@HSHorror

She has lots of wet nappies, just couldn't make poop and was(still is) crying as if she tries to make poop.

Fontanelle isn't sunken I would say it's normal.

Hopefully all is ok op, it's so worrying when they're tiny. Thanks

trunumber · 10/09/2021 20:21

I would call them back to find out where the ambulance is.

DiscoDinoBooBoo · 10/09/2021 20:26

Sorry you are going through this. It's tough anyway with a new baby....

I just wanted to say that if you are concerned about your child's 'bump' please make the paramedics aware of this I believe when babies are born the formation of the skull is in 2 parts, leaving a 'soft spot' so to speak. If you feel this has changed you must tell them.

I'm not trying to scare you at all but I think it's important for these things to be checked if you feel like it is different or has changed.

Wishing you the best and I hope the ambulance arrives soon

Wow two bloody hours for a small baby.
. This is the other side of living with the virus.
Do they know it could be covid?

It can have gastro symptoms, my dd had stomach pain and dioreha... Pooor little mite, hope you can see medics soon m

Bunn5 · 10/09/2021 20:36

I hope you are doing ok OP.

If you drive & have a car, you could take your baby to A&E yourself. Just inform 111 so they cancel the ambulance.

It must be stressful waiting & wondering.

DownWhichOfLate · 10/09/2021 21:46

An aside: do you mean you’re hanging cold (wet) muslins on the cot whilst she sleeps? It’s not ideal in case they fall on her face. I hope you’ve now been seen.

Bunn5 · 11/09/2021 13:18

Any news OP? How is your baby and did the ambulance come?

Bizawit · 11/09/2021 13:42

Tbf, this is probably because there are absolutely no indications that there is anything wrong with the baby. She’s a perfectly normal temperature (37.2/3 is normal), feeding, producing wet nappies, awake/ rousable, crying.. It’s totally normal for a 2 month old baby to have discomfort when pooing, and totally normal to go through 3-4 nappies without pooing (some breastfed babies goes for days!)

Of course it’s totally normal to worry about them when they are so small. I hope the drs came and you got the reassurance you needed OP. Covid is exceptionally unlikely to have any impact on a baby. It’s like if your husband came home with a cold.
