We are a family of 5. Us parents are double vaccinated since may. Dd had a temperature but PCR came back negative but she is still coughing. Son had temperature so booked him in for PCR and came back positive so self isolating now. The rest of us are having PCRs done today but keen to know peoples experience with kids getting it and if passed onto all? My husbands boss was double vaxxed but still got seriously ill even though only in late 50s. Others I’ve heard had a mild to bad cold but passed without too much trauma. Naturally I’m concerned

Dd15 tested positive last Monday and no one else in our household got it. My dh is double vaccinated but I’m not. She did isolate in her room for majority of time but we were sharing bathroom etc. So it’s possible not all of you will get it.

Hope your son is feeling ok.

My 6 year old got it, us double vaxed parents didn’t get it, neither did unvaccinated sibling.

curiouscatgotkilled · 09/09/2021 16:19

I've got it (double vaxed) my middle dc has also got it. DH (double vaxed) and other DCs are all neg.

My symptoms were two days of bad cold/mild flu. Not I have a bit of a sore throat and I'm just weak and feeble with loss of senses. DC says she feels ok but she's lethargic and emotional so I think she's more poorly than she's letting on.

We are being as careful as we can in the house but it's really hard to stay isolated, just being super careful with hands, face, space - remember that? Grin

LF testing them all daily and hoping for the best.

DD had it - gave it to double vaccinated DH. Neither DS (11) or myself got it.

Lovemusic33 · 09/09/2021 16:42

Dd (17) tested positive today after waking up unwell, we are waiting for PCR result but pretty sure she has it as she has all the symptoms and lateral flow showed positive. I called her sisters school straight away thinking I would have to collect her and get her a PCR too but school said I didn’t need to do anything. Dd1 has had the first vaccine but is still quite poorly, I’m double vaccinated and dd2 not vaccinated.

I will be testing dd2 and myself daily and have taken a PCR myself.

Yes all seems quite random. Still very much unknown. Keep me informed particularly those in same boat. I had to go to a different testing site from the rest of the family and when we’ve done them they’ve come in less than 24 hours. Mine was near the big city and said it could take up to 72 hours.😩

We have also had similar situation. Ds positive on lateral flow on PCR. Dd1 positive on lateral flow but negative on PCR. Dd2 and dh and myself all negative. I have a tight chest and cough though - lateral flows are negative but I have a routine pcr booked for tomorrow (work in Healthcare) before I return to work.

Makes you wonder how accurate the tests really are especially for those that are vaccinated. I just spoke to ex on the phone to tell him dd is positive, he said he had the same symptoms as dd a week ago but tested negative, last week I have achy legs, a slight cough and snotty nose and also tested negative, both ex and I are double vaccinated, dd1 only had one vaccination (2 weeks ago). Dd2 testing negative but dd1 has only been around me and dd2 and has only been back at school 3 days 🤔.
Payproblems · 09/09/2021 20:13

Op we are in the same boat.
Young dc tested positive, we have done our pcr, negative so far but I don't feel ill, yet, but I do feel something is lurking in me.. Upset stomach can almost feel little waves if it settling in. Sad

I'm feeling pretty scared to be honest but I work on a very large site around loads of people so really, how could I avoid it anyway?

stripedbananas · 09/09/2021 20:16

DD has it. Everyone else is either double vaccinated or under 18 so can go about their normal daily business, work, school.

We all had pcr tests and tested negative. DD obvs tested negative.

Bythebeach · 09/09/2021 20:16

DS1 aged 16 brought it back from a festival. I isolated him fairly rigidly. He was quite unwell in a couldn’t get out of bed/watch tv/do anything way for several days. Neither my husband nor I (both double vaxed) got it, not 8 year old. 13 caught it - very mild/almost not noticeable!

stripedbananas · 09/09/2021 20:16

I mean positive

stripedbananas · 09/09/2021 20:18

We are all, except DD, taking regular LFT and if positive will take another pcr test

Lovemusic33 · 10/09/2021 07:54

My PCR has come back positive, DD2 now has mild symptoms (I don’t have any symptoms), Dd1 is really rough in bed. Both mine and dd2’s lateral flows show negative so just shows that they are not as accurate as the PCR.

Lushmetender · 10/09/2021 09:53

The families PCRs came back negative this morning but obviously need to do one again if symptoms develop. Ds wasn’t feeling great last night and felt like he wanted to throw up. The LFT before his PCR was negative. When diagnosed it was a clear black line as per attached but these only tell you how infectious you are as measures how much viral load is in your system. DH and I are double vaxxed so hope it’s doing it’s job

OP do read the government guidelines etc.

If you've tested positive for covid via PCR then DO NOT do a lateral flow test for 90 days (3 months) as you can get a false positive

stripedbananas · 10/09/2021 20:43

After 10 days of isolation and even if no symptoms
