Not sure what to do

So, my sons girlfriend just messaged me 5 mins ago to say she just tested positive with a lateral flow Covid test, she's booking a PCR for tomorrow. She was in my house tonight and been round us all. No idea what to do or what the guidelines are, cos they change that much! Does anyone know? I live with my husband, 3 sons and 2 daughters. Don't know if we can go to work/school tomorrow as don't want to potentially spread anything. We are in Scotland if that makes any difference

Me and my husband are both double vaccinated and all the kids are under 18, so can we still go to work and school as normal? Just a bit concerned about the spread. Me and my husband have both did a lateral flow test and are negative

I think in Scotland you are required to have PCR tests, just google the guidance for Scotland and you’ll find out.

Am not sure if you have to isolate until got PCR results.

JanglyBeads · 07/09/2021 23:17

“Covid guidance Scotland close contact” is what I’d google

You would self isolate until you got a negative test . After a negative test you are free to go about your business unless you get symptoms. Or if you are double vaccinated then it’s the 10 days if you are a close contact .

Explosivefarts · 07/09/2021 23:48

Close contacts
Close contacts should book a test as soon as possible, and self-isolate while waiting for the result.

From the link someone posted above .

Legally you can go about your business, as you haven't been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19, i.e. positive PCR.

However, this is highly likely to prove positive, so it would be the wisest thing to isolate until/unless you get a negative PCR yourselves. And you then need to do daily LFT tests for 10 days (in Scotland)

SonnetForSpring · 08/09/2021 06:43

You are supposed to isolate until you get a negative PCR test result

SilverGlitterBaubles · 08/09/2021 07:41

It's probably too soon to test. Maybe wait a few days.

I find the guidance isn't very helpful if you've been in contact with a positive lateral flow- it's very clear once confirmed positive pcr test but not lateral flow. We all took a pcr test at same time as my dd who had a positive lateral flow (this may not be right but husbands work advice) but in England we didn't need to . It's confusing as I don't know if isolation as a contact officially starts from lateral flow or pcr
