Could you let me know how to go about it. All Reddit ones are in London - tried GP said will email the vaccination team but not sure if that works.
My other option is to go to the same site as my first which I’ll do but wondering if there is a site that does it..

How early is early? Robertson House in Stevenage does walk ins daily, might be worth contacting them?

FeelingJittery1 · 07/09/2021 20:06

@0ellenbrody0 5 weeks since my first- I saw Robertson house on the internet search- couldn’t find a contact number

Well you will miss out on the level of protection you should have, which would be a very stupid thing to do on purpose.

legoriakelne · 07/09/2021 20:09

There is no point being "double jabbed" if you didn't leave the right gap. Same as with other vaccines that require multiple doses.

FeelingJittery1 · 07/09/2021 20:15

@legoriakelne it’s 21 days as per Pfizer so 5 weeks should be ok?

Cookerhood · 07/09/2021 21:32

As you've been told, 5 weeks not quite as good as 8 but the studies were done on 3. Given your circumstances it is a good solution.

Clutterbugsmum · 07/09/2021 21:37

I don't think you can have them sooner then 8 weeks between vaccines.

FeelingJittery1 · 07/09/2021 21:58

@Cookerhood it’s a nightmare- as per the experts I’m not protected against Delta - but cannot get the vaccine before 8 weeks…so what’s the use of the 1st dose if it’s useless?

Yes it’s to enable me to travel

OP posts:
Cookerhood · 07/09/2021 22:11

Well, you can't have the second dose without the first!
One vaccination was very effective against the original strain, but not quite so good against Delta but still better than nothing and will help prevent serious disease a lot of the time.

Scottishgirl85 · 08/09/2021 06:22

When were you eligible for the vaccine, seems you had it quite late?
8 weeks gives best protection.

pianolessons1 · 08/09/2021 06:28

Why were you so late getting your first vaccine?

FeelingJittery1 · 08/09/2021 07:20

@Scottishgirl85 @pianolessons1 when I became eligible is when the whole blood clot news broke out- I got so anxious around this took a few months and panic attacks to get the vaccine

@Cookerhood yes it’s my frustration speaking- I understand I need to get a first dose but depending on what you read the protection is so low its almost pointless…

Do you have unusual circumstances for wanting the vaccine early? My DD did (not health related) and emailed doctor. Doctor phoned back within an hour and readily agreed - she sent DD an email to show to local pharmacy and also a booking link to the main vaccination hub in town. As it had come from the GP, no one questioned it and she had it done at just over five weeks.

Silkiescatz · 08/09/2021 08:25

There are various walk in options:

covid.healthierfuture.org.uk/events/vaccination-walk-in-clinic-times

bruffin · 08/09/2021 08:31

There are walk in jab centres my ds went to Waltham Abbey in essex but we live close by in herts.
I dont think protection for one jsb is pointless. Dh got a very mild dose of covid, none of the rest of us got it ,including ds 25 was only one jab and due his 2nd that day.

sorrysaywhatnow · 08/09/2021 08:33

It's unlikely you'll find many places that will offer you a second dose so early without good reason. Robertson house in Stevenage definitely wont.

Silkiescatz · 08/09/2021 08:36

Maybe call 119 and ask them, there are walk in centres but no idea if they allow earlier than 8 weeks between jabs atm for non-health reasons.

FeelingJittery1 · 08/09/2021 09:16

@ifonly4 my dad passed away last Wednesday- I want to travel to be with my mum/family. The country in question is currently under lockdown with massive numbers so very strict in rules.

I tried the gp who said that she would email the vaccination team but couldn’t guarantee if this would work. Not heard anything

Rang 111 couldn’t book me in than my original date

@bruffin I’m so confused with this whole thing I’ve stopped reading about it but when I did recall seeing Pfizer only has 30% protection after dose 1 for delta - I’m not clear if that’s against symptoms/catching it/hospitalisation or death

Flowers FeelingJittery Unfortunately its normally 14 days after second vaccine which is day 0 before you can travel.

In our area ones done at different times to officially allowed are all via GP and done at a GPs.
