Teacher with a temp ( and dc too)

DC1(age 3) and I both have unexplained temps (I’ve been 38.4 he reached 39.4) we are both tired and achey but nothing else. PCR tests done but awaiting results - obviously I know what to do if both positive but what if we are negative or I’m negative but he’s positive?

He has his first day in school nursery tomorrow a short settling in session which a parent is expected to attend (but stay outside) and I have only been in work 1 day since returning from mat leave.

In normal world if I felt he was up to going to nursery I would take him for that hour and chill the rest of the day. However he could pass this on to a pile of kids who will all have to test too.

I would also push myself to go to work as I feel ok, but would be passing my illness around. I’m not actually needed in work tomorrow as it’s just ks3 and I won’t be teaching any.

Finally if he is positive then do I still go in? Im not needed for childcare as my husband is off work to settle him into nursery this week. Would you want a teacher in school whose toddler had covid (so absolutely cannot distance from him)

You will probably find the nursery have a rule that says you can't go in if you have had a temperature within the last 24 hours

LizzieBet14 · 05/09/2021 22:23

Please don't go in.

Stay away while waiting I'd say.

catfunk · 05/09/2021 22:34

I wouldn't go in until you've had a negative PCR test.

Pinkplums · 05/09/2021 22:40

Of course I won’t go in until I’ve had a result - does that really need saying? 🙈

Results usually come within 12 hours in my area.

You go in if negative. That’s what the government want, and most parents will send their kids into your class if they (the parent) are positive because we have to ‘live with Covid’ now.

Pinkplums · 05/09/2021 23:18

@CarrieBlue I think that’s the stance school will take as well, even if it has a massive detrimental effect on their staffing with a load off awaiting tests.
I will be so annoyed if it is covid after 1 day in work

Dd3 had a temp last week and dd5 an awful cough. Both were negative.
