What do I do in this situation?

Any thoughts or advice appreciate.

DH tested positive for Covid yesterday via lft. Pcr came back overnight and confirmed. I have done 2 x lft - both negative so far. I have ordered a pcr test too.

I don't know what to do about the kids. They have no symptoms, neither do I. They are 10, 4 and 2. Do I have to pcr test them? If so do I need to isolate them lending the result?

Total fucking nightmare though DH is fine so at least there is that.

Are you double jabbed? If so, as I understand it you and children do not need to isolate but should get a pcr test (but do not need to isolate while waiting for results). That's how I understand it currently...

Current guidance says that you and the two oldest children should get PCR tests (under 4's don't have to).
You don't need to isolate while you're waiting for the results, and only an individual who gets a positive result needs to isolate.
Hoping for negative results for you op!

If you’re double jabbed (or very young like your kids) you definitely don’t have to isolate if you’re a close contact of a positive case, which is all you are atm, so you can def carry on as normal for now. You’re not even obliged to take a pcr at this stage but that’s the right thing to do imo. Glad to hear your DH isn’t unwell, hope that continues and him having to isolate doesn’t make your life too difficult.

MrsSchrute · 05/09/2021 13:09

The above is adding you're double jabbed!

AmelieLovesAutumn · 05/09/2021 13:11

Legally PCR testing for other household members/close contacts is recommended, but not compulsory & their isolation (foolishly) is not required

If it was me, we would all be isolating though as I think it's common sense.

I'd get PCR tests for me and the eldest.

Hope you all remain feeling 'ok' x

Thank you. I am double-jabbed, yes!

I am going to see if there is a walk-in testing centre near me. If so, I will get eldest two there this afternoon. If not, I will order them pcrs and maybe get them to do LFTs while they wait for results. My own pcr test is already on its way. I am hopeful tho as I did get a negative lft this morning.

My 4 year old is due to start in reception. She will be so gutted if she can't start with the other kids!

Our school has asked that children who live in a household where someone is positive do not attend school. I would check your school’s policy.
