Having a wobble re: second Pfizer dose

FeelingJittery1 · 05/09/2021 11:21

After great struggle had my first Pfizer 24 days back.

Now looking to get second one earlier due to dad passing away in a red listed country..

Not sure I’ll be able to travel but trying

I thought the anxiety I had around the vaccine would have reduced but still feel more or less the same..

I have another thread which was asking if I can get the vaccine early and some posters did reassure me regarding some queries..

I’m silly scared about adverse reactions- anaphylaxis and heart inflammation- the news about a lady in New Zealand passing due to myocarditis doesn’t help- my husband said why do you think you’ll be the next one but my head keeps going ‘well someone got to be so why not me? I’m not special’

I’m convinced that the first dose has done some damage to my heart muscles and the second will send me into cardiac arrest

Will having it early cause more issues?

I was speaking to a colleague yesterday regarding: walk in centre info and she said something about how some of the animals died in a lab experiment- I didn’t ask for info just changed the subject but it’s playing on my mind…

If you were anxious how did you calm your nerves a). To get the second dose
B). Not panic at every ache and pain after?

If you didn't have anaphylaxis or heart inflammation after the first dose your not going to get them after the second.

rosie39forever · 05/09/2021 11:31

You've made loads of these posts, I think you should delete your social media and step away from the randoms on MN and speak to your doc about help for your mental health and health anxiety.

FeelingJittery1 · 05/09/2021 11:42

@rosie39forever not on social media now-stopped reading about it.

Only on mumsnet but trying to get off this as well

No one to talk to in real life- hence the problem

I understand anaphylaxis risk is low but heart issues are showing up more after second dose

You need to come of the coronavirus board. It is not helping you and none of the many many responses to your threads have helped you so far.

Mynameismargot · 05/09/2021 11:52

Pretty much everyone where I live has been given their 2nd dose 3-4 weeks after the first dose. It's a very normal time frame in many countries. Both my dh and I had our 2nd dose within 4 weeks and my 14 year old will have his 2nd dose after 3-4. We and everyone we know have all had very minimum side effects.

ChickNorris · 05/09/2021 13:32

I've had my second Pfizer yesterday and except for a bit of sensitivity in my left shoulder I have had no symptoms whatsoever. The nurse told me to take paracetamol before I feel any symptoms and drink lots of water. I took 2 tablets within an hour of getting the jab and drank about 4 glasses of water in the space of about 6hrs. I was absolutely fine (and lots of my acquaintances were too).

For what it's worth with my first jab I had a feeling of a very mild cold for about 1 day but it was easily managed.

I too have seen that new report about the New Zealand woman and I did have some anxiety surrounding the second jab. I hope that my account will help you put some of the worry to rest.

FeelingJittery1 · 05/09/2021 15:58

@ChickNorris thank you - that helps. Did you have yours after 8 weeks? Also was the process similar to 1st dose? As in waiting for 15 mins…or is it longer for the second dose?

I'm sorry but you need to get yourself off mumsnet and try to get better. This is completely irrational and viscous cycle of anxiety. Nothing we can say will help. Do you worry about whether you'll be in the next plane crash, fatal car crash, stage 4 cancer diagnosis, all of which are more likely than dying from covid vaccine? It's got to happen to someone. I'm so sorry about your dad x

Cookerhood · 05/09/2021 17:57

You have to wait for the same 15 minutes. Please get some help for your anxiety. If it's not one thing it's another. Once you are fully vaccinated it will be anxiety about whether you are going to catch it. You really really need help, which no-one on here can provide.

Rosehip10 · 05/09/2021 17:57

You post a "new" thread every other day about a "wobble". You ignore any poster that tries to provide reassurance. MN can not solve your mental health issues.

BoomChicka · 05/09/2021 18:12

Groundhog day!

ChickNorris · 05/09/2021 18:14

hi, sorry have only just seen this and no problem. Really sorry about your dad also.

I had the second one after 2.5 months as that's how they were spaced apart at the time of the first dose but they did invite me to bring the 2nd appointment forward if I wanted to. I stuck with the original date (as that's when I had holidays booked and it generally suited me better) but basically they made it a possibility to have it at 1.5 months apart.

Yes the process was exactly the same including the waiting time of 15mins afterwards.

minisoksmakehardwork · 05/09/2021 18:15

I had my second Pfizer at the 8 week point. After the First one I had a 3 day headache, prepared to say coincidence as I do suffer migraines. 2nd I had a much milder headache for just 24 hours. Still had to wait 15 minutes but all good and nothing negative to report.

pfizerfizzer · 05/09/2021 18:16

I understand the intention behind these replies, but please understand this is not the way to help someone with anxiety. Either don't read/reply or try to educate yourself about appropriate responses.

@FeelingJittery1 what strategies have helped you with your anxiety in the past? You know the risks are low but that's not the issue, so what has previously helped you through periods of anxiety?

BroccoliFloret · 05/09/2021 18:17

Agree.

Posting a new thread every day is clearly not helping, is it?

Pinkpowderpuff · 05/09/2021 18:58

Part of anxiety/health anxiety is constantly seeking reassurance. I know as I also suffer from anxiety. I also know that it doesn't help in the long term to seek reassurance from others so it's important to address this and find other ways to ground yourself that doesn't rely on others.

I had my first vaccination 10 days ago, delayed by 3 months due to anxiety around it. I've had a few little 'wobbles' but managed to mainly keep it in check. I'm not thinking about the second vaccination as I don't need to be stressing about it just yet. I think with anxiety it's best to try and deal with the here and now rather than 'what if'ing' the future. So easy for me to say and very hard to do but with a supportive family it is achievable. Things will get better for you @FeelingJittery1 but it takes a lot of time and effort. I recommend trying to find a private counsellor if you can afford it, I've found that invaluable over the last few months.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 05/09/2021 19:05

I've been you.......and can hand on heart say my 2nd was a doddle compared to my first. Significantly less side effects. You'll be fine, get it done. My anxiety was sky high after but it really was fine.
