Anyone know of anyone...

Who is double jabbed, has already had Covid, and has caught Covid again? I'm double jabbed, had Covid in November but have just ordered a PCR as I just found out I have been in close contact with a positive Covid case (under new guidelines it's now recommended you get a PCR if this happens). I highly doubt I've got it, but does anyone know of anyone who has had both vaccinations AND had Covid twice? I personally haven't come across anyone in this situation yet, so I'd be interested to know!

No I don’t, I don’t I think anyhow. I’ve had covid twice myself, early in the pandemic asymptomatic (I know as I had antibodies) and sick with covid at Christmas, double jabbed and have taken a few tests since due to being symptomatic. Negative so far 👍

Notthisnotthat · 05/09/2021 07:48

Yes I do, my husbands colleague tested positive in December, and was floored with it, is now double vaccinated and tested positive again the other week. more like a head cold this time and not as poorly.

chilledteacher · 05/09/2021 07:50

Yes someone i work with has. She had confirmed Covid last April (2020), jabbed this year (first one February, second April/May) and had Covid confirmed on PCR in July. Symptoms not as bad second time round

Blitzes · 05/09/2021 07:52

Yes my best friend is a nurse she has covid twice before being jabbed and has had it since being double jabbed

ConstanceFloss · 05/09/2021 07:55

I know a couple of children who had Covid in December and then got the delta variant in July. They weren't double jabbed though.

Piggywaspushed · 05/09/2021 07:57

I have.

CaptainCallisto · 05/09/2021 08:03

Me. Had Covid November 2020, then double jabbed, and caught it again in July. I was nowhere near as poorly the second time I caught it - it was like a severe head/chest cold. Felt like death warmed up for a couple of days but was able to function. Nothing like the first time when it wiped me out completely for over a fortnight.

Geamhradh · 05/09/2021 09:41

A couple of my students.
Another thread in Active links to the stats saying 0.2% of currently positive cases are fully vaccinated.

RainBow725 · 05/09/2021 10:08

Yes I know of a few but only in this order - covid, jabx2, covid. I guess it's too soon to have caught it twice after both jabs. I am recovering from covid after both jabs and have been quite unwell. ☹️

Have you posted this before? I'm sure I've read this OP

I dont know the exact statistic but there will be many. We know you can catch it more than once so the vaccine will reduce the number but obviously won't remove the possibility that it will happenn

Covidwoes · 05/09/2021 13:02

This is interesting, thanks everyone! @AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair I don't remember posting this, but I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old, so my baby brain is very real haha!

My SIL is double jabbed with AstraZeneca & caught covid early August & was terribly ill.
She's only just started testing Negative this past week sense of smell or taste hasn't returned either.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 05/09/2021 13:10

It would make sense I guess that numbers of people catching Covid twice would increase as you get new variants - so you could have Alpha in 2020, say, get jabbed, then get Delta in 2021. I think early on it was pretty rare t get it twice, but as the numbers of variants increase it will get more common.

Angrymum22 · 05/09/2021 13:16

Yes I’ve just tested positive. Had Covid in early 2020. Same vague onset of symptoms. But no dry cough this time just headache and sinus pain.
DS had it 3 weeks ago but I didn’t get it. I suspect I have caught it off DH who has felt a bit fluy for the last few days but has not tested so don’t know.
This delta strain seems to spread like wildfire. I am due to have surgery in a couple of weeks, I’m hoping it isn’t delayed.

There's another similar thread (yesterday) but a different OP.

Thanks @Geamhradh but this thread is about being double jabbed, AND having already had Covid, not just being double jabbed.

I was helping a pp understand why she thought you'd posted the same thread previously. Hmm
Covidwoes · 05/09/2021 19:32

Oh my apologies @Geamhradh! I misunderstood. Thanks for posting the previous thread!

I know 2 people in this category, but I know a lot of people who have had it as work frontline nhs, so the proportion is tiny (anecdotally obviously).

Nevergiveuponyourdreams · 06/09/2021 15:16

My husband and I have been double jabbed with AZ since May. On Thursday he came home coughing and spluttering and on Sunday said he’d lost his sense of smell. Got a lateral flow test off a friend and he’s positive. Both went for PCR tests this morning. I’m pretty hacked off as was due to have major surgery next Monday so that’ll be cancelled. Interesting that those of you that have had it then been vaccinated are still catching it.

HelloMissus · 07/09/2021 10:31

Not yet.
But I know a few who have had it the first time after being double jabbed.
Fortunately they didNt need any medical help.
