How long after exposure would an LFT show positive?

Husband spent about 20 minutes with someone (indoors) who was positive (the guy had a positive LFT few hours later and positive PCR next day).

I can't find any information about how long after an exposure we would know if my husband is clear or not?

I'm 5 months pregnant and have kept away from him last 2 days but would like to get back to my own bed!

Any ideas? 😊

I think the incubation period is 1 - 14 days

We found at work that lft positives were coming out about 4 days after PCR positives. How long after exposure that was is unclear but staff were getting negative lft results in the mean time up to about 4 days in.

I would allow 5 days but more importantly, have you been vaccinated?

2nd vaccine scheduled for this coming Friday which obviously is putting me at a higher risk!

Looks like waiting about 5 days before going anywhere near husband is probably sensible! 😩

Incubation period can be anything from 2-14 days but is typically 5-10 days.
I'd suggest he does daily lateral flow tests for 10 days and perhaps a PCR somewhere between days 5-10 to be sure.

Mine never showed positive. Only my PCR was positive.

If you're pregnant why is it you not sleeping in your bed?

Our bedroom has the en-suite which my husband uses. I use the main bathroom. So makes sense he stays in our room with access to his bathroom 😞

It took ds 6 days to test positive, although he had symptoms from day 3.

BewilderedBee · 05/09/2021 19:55

That's good to know @JustMuddlingOn

I had a positive LFT on the 28th and went straight for PCR the same day that came back positive. Does that mean I could have had a PCR back positive on the 24th? I need to have a repeated PCR for NHS treatment (not covid related), but it will only be 16 days after my PCR. They insist on a negative or treatment will be cancelled. So really I could have been testing positive as long as 20 days?

I've read on average it's around 21 days on the PCR showing positive. I've only had mild symptoms however it has wiped me
out and struggling with fatigue! I am
Double vaccinated so hoping I am carrying less of a viral load and will come back negative quickly.

JustMuddlingOn · 06/09/2021 09:28

@BewilderedBee that's what we found yeah.
The advice (certainly for us if not across the board?)is not to test for 90 days after a positive result as it can still show in that time so I'm surprised if the NHS want to to go against that? We had staff test in the 90days and get positives but we're told by public health to ignore and not isolate as it isn't valid in that time.
