I’ve just tested positive for covid after getting a test for dd(4) and me. She’s had what seemed like a 24hr sickness bug and has since recovered. She’s tested negative, I’ve randomly tested positive having had no symptoms.

Several weeks ago a friend ( ex friend now!) rocked up to visit me with her kids part way through her isolation period. They’d tested positive on an LFT and we’re symptomatic but didn’t get a PCR as “ they’d need to isolate” . Turns out she knowingly had covid while using my toilet , kitchen, plates, cups etc. Our young children shared drinks and probably licked each other for all I know ! A couple of days later she accidentally dropped it they’d all had covid at the time of their visit. I have a particularly vulnerable parent and she knows this! Haven’t spoken to her since! Probably never will again. I’m still really, really angry!

We limited contact with everyone, did daily LFT’s etc. A week later I had what I thought was an almighty migraine. I get these. They last about 2 days. This one lasted 2 1/2 weeks and towards the end included double vision and palpitations , a weird arthritis thing in several of my joints. I was the most tired I have ever been. LFT’s still all negative. None of the three main symptoms. Towards the end I wondered if I’d actually got covid but thought I’d missed the opportunity to test ( knew that it had to be within 5 days).

I have felt so much better the last week and now feel brilliant but have just tested positive. Is it possible this might be a lingering positive and what I’ve described above was covid. My LFT’s continue to be negative. I am so confused !

Also, my whole family now have to have pcr tests as a result of my positive test. My older daughter tested negative at the same time I tested positive. Does this count as her pcr test or will she need another one. The info isn’t that clear and there’s no one to ask on the track and trace stuff.

Sorry for the long post and thanks xxx

Yes, it is possible. You can test positive up to 90 days. It’s only recommended that your family do PCR tests.
