Confused about isolating

A family member is double jabbed. Was pinged and advised to do a pcr.

Results just in, negative, but told to still isolate for 10 more days.

Does anyone understand this? Do they have to follow this instruction?

If double jabbed and PCR negative then isolation ends

dementedpixie · 04/09/2021 10:31

Do you mean pinged as in from the app or contacted by test and trace?

dementedpixie · 04/09/2021 10:32

If the app, it will not know they have done a PCR and are negative

Zorinindustries · 04/09/2021 10:35

Pinged on the app, then booked a drive through test.

Is there a bit on the app to tell it his vaccination status/result of test?

Zorinindustries · 04/09/2021 10:38

No idea, I am not with them at the moment due to their self isolating. I've no idea what's going on really

I'm a little surprised that anyone is still setting such store by the app.

We all know that if you're double jabbed you don't need to isolate in those circumstances.

Barkingdog · 04/09/2021 10:44

No, he doesn't need to isolate.

dementedpixie · 04/09/2021 10:44

The app isn't legally binding anyway. Noone would be checking to see if they are isolating. The app must have a bit to give vaccine status or its a bit more pointless than it was already

It's not pointless as it will highlight you to possible infection which has got to be a good thing.

Imo the problem has always been that people can't seem to understand that it was never legally binding.

Dee1975 · 04/09/2021 10:53

Are you sure it JUST says ‘must isolate’ and doesn't state ‘unless you are not required to do so because you are either DJ’ed or under 18?

PeonyTime · 04/09/2021 10:54

When was the second vaccination? More than 14 days before exposure?
I'd carry on with life, but be careful in optional large crowds. So id go to the supermarket, but not the monthly food festival, iyswim.

NHS COVID-19 app

Updates will be made to the COVID-19 app to align with the changing requirements to self-isolation. App users identified as a close contact who confirm that they are double vaccinated or under 18 not need to self-isolate and will be given advice to book aPCRtest.

If someone is called by NHS Test and Trace and told they are a contact, they will be asked their age and their vaccination status. If using the NHS COVID-19 app, people will be asked to self-declare if they are under 18 or double vaccinated.

All sorted. it wasn't the app that told him to isolate, it was the e mail with his pcr results.

However, I was just using really ambiguous language. It said
'You had a negative result. This means you probably do not have coronavirus. However, you might still need to isolate'

Having read further and looked on the. Gov website I am confident he doesn't, but it isn't at all clear for some people.

They really should make the wording clearer.

I think that's pretty clear isn't it?

I suppose they could add a link to a page with the full rules to explain about the current isolation rules but they've been very widely reported and are easy to find out

Zorinindustries · 04/09/2021 15:23

Not too easy if you are elderly and not Internet savvy. It said 'you might have to isolate' and showed a link which went to a page of lots of text, loads of subheadings and just not v user friendly for some people.

I had no trouble with it, but my elderly relatives did.
