Repeat PCR - hospital treatment

I know we're not supposed to repeat testing for 90 days but I need a negative PCR to have medical treatment that was planned. I just wondered if anyone else has been in this situation.

I had a faint positive on sat 28th, and then a PCR the same day that came back positive. I re-tested on LFT on the 29th and it was negative. I have now done another LFT today (3rd sept) and will be required to do another PCR on the 13th.

Does anyone have any experience of something similar. The hospital initially said to cancel and wait a month, but they agreed as I've only had mild symptoms that we'll plan to go ahead and test on 13th, and cancel if it's positive.

I'm double vaccinated so hoping my viral load will be lower. I have had symptoms - sneezing and coughing which eased after 3 days, night sweats (one night). I cough very little and the biggest issue now is fatigue. I don't feel completely normal yet but do feel more like my old self. I'm really hoping my PCR will be negative on the 13th but know there's a high chance of it being positive.

Anyone else been in this situation? Thanks x

They shouldn't be asking you to test again if you have only just had covid

We’ve had a letter through for my son for an operation on the 20th Sept. we had COVID 13th August. I too am worried that the hospital pre test may still be positive, I’m a teacher and we already have lots of teachers off, I can’t be off especially as I wouldn’t actually have COVID presumably. Not sure what to do, I might phone the hospital and see what they say.

It's really worrying isn't it and seems so unfair. I can evidence my PCR test that was the first positive and also my vaccination etc.

I have just come across this guidance online - it is very new - 23rd August. I would hope they will do individual risk assessments but there was no talk of this today when I spoke to the hospital.

There's two documents linked there by the way! It looks like one hyperlink, but there's two! Hope they are helpful. I'm going to ask for a risk assessment. I imagine it's going to become more and more of a problem for the NHS with more and more people getting covid
