Positive for antibodies

I had covid a few weeks ago and had a blood test for the antibodies. The antibodies show I’ve had covid within the past six months as I’ve got antibodies.

I’m not vaccinated, I’m not anti vax I just went a few times and they were fully booked. Yes it’s a ‘flimsy’ excuse but I also don’t have any friends/isolated and spend spare time at home. People are desperate to get it, so I was going to get it done when I was taking annual leave (kept on getting delayed).

I’ve been taking lateral flow tests since I’ve been back in the office - maybe four months.

Anyone else in the same situation?

That’s what I don’t understand about different strains. How can a vaccine cover all strains, yet people are still getting ill when vaccinated and their symtoms are on par with the unvaccinated

Flu strains are different every year, every year there is a different jab.

The vaccine is the same as every other vaccine, it doesn't 100% work but reduces the chances of getting it and getting it really badly.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

I'm really confused as to what you're asking BUT get vaccinated, I know people who are getting it for the second time. No one knows at this point how long the antibodies last yet.

The best scenario apparently is to have antibodies from infection plus vaccine.

Lots of people are completely A symptomatic that's not news surely?

It’s news to me that I’ve been exposed to the virus and have had it.

Fantastic news though, completely A symptomatic and now have antibodies.

It's possible you still have antibodies from longer ago than six months - some people have them from their original pre-first lockdown infection. So maybe you had it last year and now with Delta you've got it again.

You should still get vaccinated, because it gives you a much higher level of protection and also reduces your viral load so you transmit it less.

Why is it a surprise ? 30% approx of those that get covid are asymptomatic. So you are one of those. Then you got it again . …..

This isn’t a conversation about vaccination.

I

Because I have no friends.

Stayed at home.

Had no symptoms.

Tested twice weekly for four months.

Wore a mask.

So yes I’m really low risk and still got it!

Yes I had Covid asymptomatically and had antibodies months later. In fact a second antibody test last month showed I still have antibodies a year later. My DP had Covid mildly, I must have got it from him, but had no symptoms.
