Elderly relatives post +ve tests

Due to see elderly relatives this weekend, planned for bloody ages. Haven't seen them since Jan 2020. Brutal truth they won't be here for that much longer.

We are double vaccinated but all had covid in august, came out of isolation on 10th August. None of us were ill with it thankfully.

Is there any point in doing lfts before we go, I'm worried now the kids are back they may be incubating it for a second time and DH is a teacher, or is that completely irrational? I can't find any firm advice.

WWYD?

I think you are advised not to do LFTs for 90 days after a Covid infection as it could still show up as positive on the test.

Why would you not do the LFTs? People get repeated infections, although unlikely if you’ve had it recently. You mighty feel happier visiting them knowing it’s negative. Although you can still transmit it to them, nothing is secure and as long as everyone is happy with that then enjoy seeing them

You’ve been double vaccinated and had covid. I think it’s very unlikely that you’ve got it again! I think you can take lfts but you can’t get another pcr for 90 days after your last one iirc.

its not advised to test for up to 90 days after you've had Covid. It might show up positive for the next few months but you not infectious.

Thanks all. I'm very happy to do the LFTs but if they still chuck up positives and we have nothing to worry about then I run the risk of not seeing them.
