Does anyone find the JCVI infuriatingly slow?

Their decision making is so slow. They have signed off on boosters for only 500k people.

It's clear we need the booster program to start ASAP. They drag their feet with every decision understandably the urgency to start this seems quite clear.

Wow people wanting them to rush vaccinations, IE we only listen to sceintists when they agree with us.

Try being patient no need to rush things.

Wow people wanting them to rush vaccinations

They have managed to give permission for a few more conditions

Previously, the JCVI advised that children with severe neurodisabilities, Down’s syndrome, immunosuppression, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and severe learning disabilities or who are on the learning disability register, should be offered COVID-19 vaccination.

Following consideration of updated data on hospital admissions and deaths, the JCVI advises that this offer should be expanded to include children aged 12 to 15 with the following:

haematological malignancy
sickle cell disease
type 1 diabetes
congenital heart disease
other health conditions as described in Annex A
Children with poorly controlled asthma and less common conditions, often due to congenital or metabolic defects where respiratory infections can result in severe illness, should also be offered COVID-19 vaccination.

Meanwhile from Jeremy Hunt, who chairs the Commons health committee and is a former Health Secretary

Hunt told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the UK should immediately mimic Israel’s policy of mass booster vaccinations.

He said: “If you look at what’s happened in Israel, they have a higher vaccination rate even than us – 80% of adults – and they have found a Delta variant does lead to increased hospital admissions, but two weeks after they introduced boosters those admissions started to go down again.

“I understand why scientists are taking their time but I think in a pandemic politicians can also read the runes and see the direction of travel. I think Anthony Harnden on your programme yesterday gave a very clear hint – he’s from the JCVI that decides these things – that they are likely to recommend boosters.

“In a pandemic I think even a few days can make a big difference. So I think we should just get on, not wait for that advice, get on with a booster programme.”

The 500,000 are with weakened immune systems
This is separate to the planned booster programme
