Would you keep away from dp until pcr is back?

He’s having a pcr this afternoon so probably won’t be know until tomorrow late morning.

He was hot last night and felt sick. He’s also got a cough (not continuous) and feels fluey.

Is it worth me avoiding him now until he gets the results? Seems a bit pointless but I’m 30 weeks pregnant and double jabbed.

The results should take 24hr. Thing is if he is positive have you got a plan going forward? Personally I would just be sensible but Covid isn’t as transmissible as some viruses (such as measles) but more than others. I’ve got Covid and my DD and DH have never caught it! We have been “sensible” (no snogging lol, not sharing utensils etc). Would you wear a mask around him is that unreasonable?

I'd keep out of the way of my DH if he'd got a cold, flu, or any other lurgy. I don't want his germs regardless

Yes me too, if possible sleep in another bed, do basic cleaning and keep windows open - helps with any illness.

only if you can realistically keep it up.
We have an ensuite guest room so been decided that if I or kids get it (far more likely than dh who wfh) he'll be moving in there for the duration.

If you can, keep away. Wiping surfaces is equally important too and washing hands. For me it would be impossible. Not because I can't bear to be apart from Dp 😅😅 but because our house is way too small to do so. We only have one bathroom, no extra space.

There's been times one of us have been very poorly and shared the same bed (admittedly not covid) and have not caught a thing. Sickness bugs, flu, bad colds etc. It's very rare both of us catch something. Usually one or the other.

It doesn't seem pointless. It might be the difference between getting it and avoiding getting it.

I would keep away, even if it’s not covid, I wouldn’t want to catch what he’s got.

Bennetgirl · 31/08/2021 19:06

Thanks all. I think it’s too late! I’ve got a weird cough and am sneezing now.

He was only in the office one day last week. Just goes to show how weak our immune systems have become. Fingers crossed it’s negative.

No, I wouldn't as it would be impossible. Like another poster it's not because I can't bear to be apart from him, but because we don't have space!

NannyAndJohn · 01/09/2021 06:52

I'd be keeping him in a spare bedroom, ideally with ensuite.

Masks on and windows open should you have to enter the room yourself, else leave his food and water outside the door for him to collect himself when you're well out of the way.

He's not a pet to be kept in a spare room!

You also seem to miss the point on these threads that many of us don't have a spare room, let alone one with an en-suite.

Bennetgirl · 01/09/2021 09:07

Thankfully he’s negative. This is going to be a long winter 😩

That's good news

Get some first defence nasal spray. It cuts down the time a cold hangs around
