Holidays & travel 2022

Do you think the hoops to jump through to travel, will be relaxed next year? I have enjoyed holidaying in the uk for the past 2 years, but really don’t think I want to do it yet again next year. Wondering if people will just go abroad come what may, given it’ll be the third year of the pandemic by then.

I may go but will not be booking in advance to just see how it all goes, I already lost one deposit last year and don't particularly want to be worrying about a holiday or worrying on holiday about getting home as it is supposed be a happy experience that one would normally look forward to

IcedPurple I figure I have much less chance of catching Covid on a beach holiday in Greece.
No public transport. No work. No social events.

Also the test to get on the plane home is an LFT. So...

The hoops really aren't that bad. Just be organised, the tests take 5 mins, and have everything you need printed out. Thought masks would annoy me but so used to it now and it's only inside you need them.

Just have a plan B incase things go wrong. (Our jamaica flight was cancelled while we were waiting at the gate to board). Went to Greece instead the next day, having a blast.

🤞. The minute I can go to the USA I'm booking flights.

We'll definitely be going abroad. The hoops and paperwork are not hard to jump through, we went to Majorca this year, it was fine and the holiday did us all the world of good.

DD will be going traveling next year, she knows she'll have to be flexible about where she goes but she will definitely be going somewhere.

For me it's not so much the 'hassle' as the fear of testing positive and then not being able to get on the plane. That's the kind of worry that would hang over me for the entire holiday.

Same for me @IcedPurple

I just got back from Spain and it was no problem getting out there but the testing to get back to the U.K. did worry me on holiday. Which puts me off going abroad again but home holidays don’t sound much fun with our mostly lousy weather. Hope the U.K. makes it easier to come back by next year if travelling from green or amber destinations

Yes the test to return is a worry but for us it was very very unlikely we could have caught it as we didn't mix with anyone and spent all our time either outside or in our room. Hotel was 60% capacity same with flights. Having said that we went before the majority of the schools broke up, it did start getting busier when we left.
