Flu vaccine after Oxford jabs

Please forgive my ignorance. I've tried to do my own research but can't find anything.

I've had both my Oxford jabs, in March & June. I'm now booked in for my flu jab mid September.

Have you had both jabs? Have you had your flu injection?

What do you mean? Whether it's safe? I can't see why there would be any problem after such a long gap.

NannyR · 29/08/2021 20:36

I've had both AZ jabs and will definitely be having the flu jab when it's offered to me, I can't see any reason why I wouldnt?

Xiaoxiong · 29/08/2021 20:49

Ooh are flu jabs available already! I will definitely be having mine (am double jabbed with AZ)

TomAllenWife · 29/08/2021 20:56

Yep I'll be having mine ASAP
Completely different to the covid vaccine
It's like taking paracetamol and being worried about taking ibuprofen
Different stuff

Not sure what you intend to ask. I had my flu vaccine about a month before having Astra Zeneca vaccine. I've got my flu vaccine booked end Sept this year - it sounds as if certain groups will qualify about six months after their second vaccine if we're due to have a vaccine, so my third vaccine will be about a month after flu vaccine again. I felt absolutely fine after both.

PeaAndHamSoupFromAChicken · 29/08/2021 21:02

I almost missed out on a flu jab last year as I have to pay and all the pharmacies just did the free ones so I booked in as soon as they opened bookings.

Never even thought of it as an issue after covid jabs, I had Oxford ones in March and May and booked for flu jab on the first day they're available here (17th September).

I will be keeping a note of dates for DD though as she's getting the flu vaccine at school but I think will be in the next age group to be done for covid jabs so I don't know if they have to be a certain distance apart and I don't want to get the dates mixed up if so.

kimlo · 29/08/2021 21:04

my surgery haven't been in touch yet, it's normally a little bit later than this. Once they do I'll have my flu jab.

I'm not sure why you think it would be an issue, surely you had last years before the first covid jab?

HermioneGrunger · 29/08/2021 21:13

I'm double AZ jabbed and booked in for my flu jab in three weeks.

Seriously79 · 30/08/2021 07:04

Thanks all. Not really sure what I was asking, just hadn't heard of anyone who had received both Covid jabs and flu jab.

I think that's because flu jabs are offered in the autumn, and this time last year we didn't have any covid vaccinations approved yet.

Xiaoxiong · 30/08/2021 07:16

I certainly had a flu jab last October, then the covid jabs in the spring. Now I will have another flu jab this October probably.

andadietcoke · 30/08/2021 07:17

I had both Covid jabs and a flu jab last year as I was on a trial. No issues, we just had to make sure there was 7 days between a Covid vaccination and a flu one. The same applies this year because I have the second dose of my Moderna booked and had to move my flu jab.

dudsville · 30/08/2021 07:18

I had my pfizer covid vaccine in December and because of home working I wasn't offered the flu jab until January, which I took just fine, then next vaccine in March.

L1ttleSeahorse · 30/08/2021 07:23

I've already booked mine for mid sept with the pharmacist as our GP surgery is often later with booking.

Magpie1976 · 10/09/2021 18:27

Seriously 79 I've booked my flu jab in a few days as our local pharmacy has started doing them for a fee. AZ in April and June. Is there any reason for concern in those vaccinated against covid?

gogohm · 10/09/2021 18:32

I'm booked for late October, my gp seems to be offering them in alphabetical order, with myself and my dd offered and not my dp and his dp (different last names) despite him being at higher risk than me!

SpeckledyHen · 10/09/2021 18:36

I had my C19 jabs in February and May , flu booked for September 21st.

321zyx · 10/09/2021 18:42

@kimlo if you're eligble you don't need to wait for GP - just go on Boots website (others available) and book direct.........

321zyx · 10/09/2021 18:44

....if you're not eligible for a free vaccine you can book through any pharmacy...

Mindymomo · 10/09/2021 18:48

DH was invited by GP today, has booked for 1 October. I booked in at Boots for next weekend, as I don’t think I will be invited by GP for a while.

oneranksenior · 10/09/2021 19:16

I had my AZ jabs in March and May. Walked into local pharmacy this week and had a flu jab. Last year had my first ever flu jab, paid for by my employers, this year it's free for over 50's anyway. Pharmacist said good to get flu jab done early on as when boosters are available, maybe October, there will have to be a 2 week gap between having the flu jab and the booster.
