How long do you keep testing positive in a PCR?

Both me and OH are fully vaxxed but got the dreaded positive PCRs last week.

It's been nothing more than a cold for me and mild illness for him, but, we're going away at the start of October.

This is all a bit hypothetical as were supposed to be going Turkey, should it be removed from the Red List. Turkey currently require a PCR taken 72 hours before departure for entry. I've heard stories of people testing positive weeks after the initial test. Does anyone have experience of this?

I think up to 90 days is possible

The advice is to not test 90 days after a positive result because you may still trst positive. But that's a worst case scenario. There was a similar thread on here recently and they got a negative test in time for their holiday much sooner than 90 days.

Yes, a friend of mine tested positive for three months.

Without wanting to hijack OP’s thread, how can they tell if you have a new infection or not if you can keep testing positive for 90 days? For example in theory if you developed a temperature/loss of taste etc after 10 weeks, and a test was positive, how could you know if it was Covid reinfection or not?

Hi I’m in the same boat, positive now and going on holiday early October. I have read the mean time is about 30 days. Hopefully we will be in luck.
