Does anyone have any more information?

We knew last term though.

m0therofdragons · 22/08/2021 18:39

We’re due to start 6th sept anyway (not covid related).

kowari · 22/08/2021 18:41

@BluebirdHill

The 'second week of September' makes it sound really late, when it could just be Monday 5th. Scaremongering.
Yes, I think it's just lazy journalism for the sake of a 'story'.
Lougle · 22/08/2021 18:42

Our school was going to do Covid tests staggered through the first week, then all back the second week. Now they've decided that everyone should test at home before the start of term, then all get their second test when they start school.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 22/08/2021 18:42

Not only is our school not going back 'late' due to testing, the teachers (and other staff) are giving up the last two days of their holiday to test all year groups before their start date. But I guess that kind of story wouldn't really suit the Daily Mail's (other 'news' medium is available) agenda.

lolums · 22/08/2021 18:43

Oh ffs, what about the sixth formers, many of whom are double vaccinated so no more risk to the teachers than the teacher are to each other.
Another academic year of being treated like second class citizens.

lolums · 22/08/2021 18:46

Just because a pupil tests negative on Sept 2, doesn't mean they'll still be negative on Sept 6 - this is a total waste of bloody time.
Just ask those that are willing to take a test at home the night before term starts.
This is pointless meaningless disruption that is engineered by those teaching union reps who cannot get used to the idea that scientific studies have shown they are at no more risk than any other job (and far less than some) and really can't get their heads around the the fact that sixth formers are soon to be fully vaccinated and ffs how can they confine and restrict these kids further to carry on ensuring there is zero risk.

Wrinklyeyes · 22/08/2021 18:50

It’s a DM article designed to get people all frothy - just like 99 percent of other meaningless shite that’s ‘reported’ in that excuse of a news outlet.

This is not news. Two tests for secondary-aged school children were planned for at my DC’s school & communicated to students & parents before the summer break - the first to take place on one of the inset days and the second on the first day of term. Every school in our borough is doing the same.

Evvyjb · 22/08/2021 18:51

Oh for heavens sake - its DM scaremongery at its best.

We test twice a week. It's fine. It helps schools stay open.

DonGray · 22/08/2021 18:57

One of my kids is going back a full week late as the school is large and they have lots of kids to test
Testing is once again optional

dementedpixie · 22/08/2021 18:58

I'm in Scotland and they don't test in school here. The tests are done at home only and advised to do them twice a week

Pootle40 · 22/08/2021 19:04

Schools are already back in Scotland so seems unlikely....

itsgettingwierd · 22/08/2021 19:06

@SunbathingDragon

Let’s be honest, the government is only likely to tell us the day before schools are due back anyway.
The day before?

Your optimistic!

January they decided after they'd all gone back 🤦🏼‍♀️
