Child has symptoms and I have an appointment do I cancel?

I have an appointment at the doctors on Monday , it's urgent for me , my son is now displaying symptoms of COVID , I have a test booked tomorrow for both of us at a test site , although I am not displaying any symptoms I can't imagine I will have the results in time for my appointment, would the doctor still see me even if I'm not displaying symptoms or will they associate sons symptoms with me also? I'm really worried about having to delay my appointment as been waiting since yesterday as they couldn't see me ?

If you're in England you no longer need to isolate if you have no symptoms and you've been double jabbed.

noblegiraffe · 21/08/2021 17:04

Are you double jabbed? In which case there’s no requirement to isolate even if your son tests positive.

This. Are you double jabbed? Is your DC old enough to be left alone for a bit? DC will have to isolate for 10 days.
Mindymomo · 21/08/2021 17:13

I don’t think the doctor will see you if you are waiting results or a close contact, I’m afraid, even though the rules have now changed.

Howshouldibehave · 21/08/2021 17:14

DC will have to isolate for 10 days

Only if the PCR is positive.

If you don’t have covid and you’ve been double-jabbed, you are fine under the rules.

WetBench · 21/08/2021 17:15

If you haven’t had your results I would definitely phone the surgery and explain and see what they suggest. They might have a separate “covid” room they would see you in.

As long as your son is able to be left at home alone, then you're able to attend if you're double jabbed (and two weeks have passed since the last jab).

There's no need to pre warn the drs about it. These are the rules now.

But the GP surgery most likely has its own policies in place. OP, you need to check with the surgery.

Has your DC done a LFT?

chairfoxlight · 22/08/2021 16:20

NHS generally has different rules. In my hospital, all covid measures still stand and as a staff we all have to isolate if a child has symptoms etc. And we wouldn't be able to see you in clinic under those circs either. Literally nothing has changed in the NHS, it's covid Groundhog Day!

You need to phone and confirm they'd see you before attending.

If course she should pre warn the GP! The GP will still see her but having the heads up means that the GP might not get covid (again) and then not be able to see patients for 14 days. Why would you not tell them?
Thethreecs · 22/08/2021 18:55

I'd phone the surgery and ask. Tbf you really should no matter what the rules have changed to inform the doctor, they see so many patients. I would be mortified go in knowingly I was a close contact and could possibly have covid. I shit myself every month when I bring dd to the GP because I'm terrified someone is sitting there with covid and hasn't told anyone. Please think of anyone vulnerable that may be waiting.

Lelivre · 22/08/2021 18:58

I had my temperature taken twice for my appointment this week. The rules are tight for surgeries. Some surgeries are having to close their doors in our area due to staffing issues related to covid. Please protect the staff and the service.

You really must check their website or call for advice before attending.

lannistunut · 22/08/2021 19:05

I think you need to speak to the surgery, unfortunately, as they may have different rules because they see so many vulnerable people.
