Hi,
Am ECV and my two children aged over 12 but under 16 live with me. Wondering if / when they will be invited for vaccine. Has anyone in a similar position in England received an invite yet?
Thanks

I don't think that's the plan is it ?

I’m working on the vaccine roll out and we’re planning on inviting these patients from next week. It’s taken a while to sort out the policies around vaccinating children, eg do we need different safeguarding training for the people working in vaccine sites.

The system doesn't come well with this - I was edging into complaints territory when my 16/17yo became eligible at the end of March as household of CEV and it took two months of being pinged from pillar to post before she was properly booked in. Then we had the same drama when her part 2 fell due

The system is not properly up and running

119 will tell you that you have to go via GP, they can't arrange it for those aged under the national minimum (now 16, was 18 when I was in this situation). Unless your GP still has its own hub (many have now closed) they can't do anything.

So you have to speak to the practice manager (reception staff may well be well out of their depth) and request either/both

a) GP emails local centre to make the arrangement, checking carefully that there is a paediatric vaccinator available (not all centres have them, GP can get this wrong if they are not specific)
b) GP refers to a hospital

Your GP might have better procedures than ours did, and might know exactly how to get the jab actually in to the young teen. Detailed guidance has apparently been sent out, but only in the last day or two, so readiness to deal with enquiries might vary. You might have to ring more than once, to check they really are sorting it out for you

My GP is running a clinic, but on a day we can't make for DD who is 15. I may well try speaking to the practice manager on Monday to try and get an appointment at one of the hubs, and I'll make sure I mention the words "paediatric vaccinator". Thanks, nether.

DH is ECV and my 17 year old hasn't been invited yet. We could probably book her in but I firmly believe it is her decision and I don't want to pressure her.

"I don't think that's the plan is it ?"

I think it is.
I'm going to ask my GP if ds's can be done ASAP.

I’ve been wondering this too. DH is immunosuppressed so my DDs should be invited at some point. Our GP practice is notoriously slow but it sounds like we’re not the only ones waiting!

I'm in Northern Ireland and when
DH was at the GP getting his childhood vaccines (he has had at SCT) they gave him the necessary paperwork for DS (13).
