Quarantine officer recurrent visit

Just curious really- I have a friend staying at my place. She arrived from an amber list country to live in the UK so has been with us for 2 months now.

First time she was quarantining (back in June) she has received a few calls to check she was home etc. All good. Then one day the quarantine officer had come to physically check- she wasn't in, I had taken her to have her day 5 test to release in a local clinic. Officer asked for proof that she was living with us, my partner (who was the only person home at the time) showed him the passport. He then told my partner to tell my friend that if anyone asks, she is to tell them that she had seen the officer at 5:30pm (when he visited). Nothing else happened.

We are on holiday now in an amber list country. She joined for the first week, and is now back at our place doing her 10 day quarantine (not fully vaccinated). A quarantine officer has visited 3 times since she's been home! She's only on day 4 of being home!

Is this the norm or was she maybe flagged due to not being in the first time? Even if the quarantine officer basically told her to lie? We also live in the middle of nowhere so not really easy to get to Grin

We get back tomorrow and not fully vaccinated either so we may be meeting some of these officers

I doubt it’s anything to do with the previous trip. When I travelled last year I had nothing, no calls, no visits. This time we had 4 visits in 5 days, including one when I was halfway out of the door for my day 5 test. They’re clearly more on it now.

Why do you travel abroad even though you are not fully vaccinated?

@LakeShoreD thank you 😬 I'm just curious really!

@FlowerArranger because I had a serious adverse reaction to the first and can't have the second- I don't need to justify anymore-that's why.

Thanks for the concern though

It's not normal at all, I wonder if it's because you're remote and the allocated officer hasn't got much to do?

Peteycat · 15/08/2021 12:50

Flower arranger she can travel with f she wants to. Not up to you to police.

Peteycat · 15/08/2021 12:51

If she wants to.

@FlowerArranger

Why do you travel abroad even though you are not fully vaccinated?
Because she wants to and has a right to. End of.
