Hello hello!
I'm a bit confused - saw 3 friends yesterday. Outside in the park, then sat outside cafe.
2 of them tested C19 positive today. Just done a Lateral test which was negative but travelling to Manchester tomorrow to see relatives with my son age 9.
Should we test again tomorrow?
Would you just stay at home & self isolate?
Not sure what to do?

@LindaEllen that is wrong information. The correct information has been posted several times on this thread alone giving links to thegovernment website.

Isolation can be cut short from Monday if double vaccinated or under 18

@Primrosejoy

One thing to be sure to do is run it past the family you are due to be visiting. I'd personally say I'd rather you didn't visit.
This. It would be immoral to visit without discussion in this situation.

You don't need to isolate if you're double jabbed but obviously should do a test; ideally test 3 days after seeing them as that's the most infectious point for Delta. You should also be cautious and limit contacts; long train journeys don't fit. I would put off the holiday for a week just in case, it's not worth the risk and you'll all enjoy it much better for knowing you don't have covid.

@Lakeshore6

Definitely test again tomorrow. I know how I caught it, and it didn’t show up until 48 hours later - it can take longer too
Of course it can, that's why we had & have the 14/10 day isolation periods, because of the incubation period.

@@Biglioness. I know it's disappointing & a pain, but I'd isolate for 10 days, & keep my distance from other household members as much as possible, wiping down shared surfaces.

Hope you don't get it!, but I wouldn't take the risk of passing it on (that won't change when the law does).

MRex · 14/08/2021 11:57

Just to comment - you should really do a PCR test, because LFT has a higher false negative rate

Biglioness · 14/08/2021 13:57

Hello
Thanks for all the posts & advice!
We did a negative Lateral & doing another one later today. Self isolating, not seeing family & PCR tests in the post.
I think we'll self isolate til we get PCR results & depending on what they say... :(
Fucking Covid!!!!

I’d forget the government guidelines. They are not aimed at protecting your relative/ but at getting the economy back on track. Obviously if you’ve been a close contact you should isolate particularly if you want to make your relative stat safe. If you’re happy to risk giving them covid then go ahead and meet them, or at least ask them what they think.
