Question.... just pondering.

If you are on holiday, arrived feeling fine but developed symptoms and took lateral flow test and was positive. What do you do? If it's a uk holiday do you travel home immediately or stay in room for ten days?

I'm
Not in that situation but at end of august / first week of holiday I'm
Going on Norfolk broads and was just thinking about wht would happen? I'm staying away from people before we go so should be safe but it crossed my mind I wouldn't know why to do for best. I'm only going for 7 days as DD back af school on 7th. Would I have to hijack boat until isolation was done Confused

I think the advice is to go home if travelling by car.

Planesandflying · 13/08/2021 20:43

I'd go straight home without stopping anywhere en route

frozendaisy · 13/08/2021 20:58

I wouldn't take the LFT on holiday.

100% this

Why on earth are people testing every sniffle Hmm it's absolute madness!

Wakemeuuuup · 13/08/2021 21:47

I'd go home. We went away in UK and brought lateral flows with us. We only needed to use them on our last day as we were meeting friends we hadn't seen in a long time on way home.

iloveredpandas · 13/08/2021 21:58

Why are people testing when the have symptoms?!? What are you on about?

They are testing because they suspect they have the virus and don't wish to spread it FFS why do you think?! Hmm

Snap. I'm currently in holiday and have not brought any with me. We are both fully vaccinated and I have have Covid previously so we have reduced risk.

If I became particularly poorly (last time I needed to be admitted to hospital) or had very obvious symptoms (although last time I didn't have the three main symptoms until after I'd already tested positive and then those particular symptoms were mild) I would test then using a PCR.

If I had a positive PCR we would head home. However it's a minimum 7 hour journey so we couldn't do it without recharging the car half way and without a toilet stop. I guess I'd just have to double mask, wear gloves, be very quick and keep my distance for a comfort break.

There's no way I'd be able to get home without stopping for a wee!
Lemons1571 · 14/08/2021 09:07

I wouldn’t test on holiday either. I can’t imagine many people are. Only on mn!

You’ll get posters along in a minute telling you you’re selfish for not weeing in a ditch at the side of the road.

NotWanting · 14/08/2021 10:01

Been thinking about this too. Travelling from Brighton to Scotland by train and do have to test before going to the islands. Both fully vaccinated. Also not staying in one place.

We would be pretty fucked tbh

Mindymomo · 14/08/2021 10:33

Yes, advice is to go home. Most holiday places are booked solidly for one week at a time, so I expect you won’t be able to stay on and continue your isolation period. We went away last month. I took additional prescription medication just in case. I suppose if you were really stuck and too ill to travel, the holiday owners/company could cancel the next occupants and let you continue your stay, but I think that’s unlikely.

Bobholll · 14/08/2021 11:04

You go home. It’s awkward if you have a long journey admittedly. Maybe just don’t drink at all on the way home 🙈
