Day 2 test after testing positive abroad

Has anyone been in this situation?
Abroad and DC tests positive. We follow local rules and self isolate and test as required. We fly back, all need a day 2 test. There's a big chance DC will still test positive. If they do, it sounds crazy to start another 10 self isolation period.
Anybody knows anything about this scenario?
TIA

You do the tests at home, no one is watching , I wouldn't test the child as you know it's not a true result. Swap someone else.

Surely when back you isolate from the first day of symptoms or the positive PCR test for 10 days.

@Iknowtheanswer

We spoke to Track and Trace about this (had covid 4 weeks ago, due to go on holiday tomorrow, ended up cancelling).

They told us that we would still have to isolate, although they understood the government saying that you couldn't take a PCR within 90 days of a positive. They agreed it was nonsense but said it waa still the law.

Our holiday company advised us to ignore any positive day 2 test. Hmm

We've emailed our mp with the email trail...

What a shit show!

Apparently they don't even follow up the tests so a lot of people ordering them for the forms and then not even bothering to do them 🤷🏼‍♀️

@CovidCorvid

What will you do if you catch it off him and then test positive and can’t fly back?
I had it a couple of months ago so hopefully won't catch it again.

It's really bizarre that they haven't addressed this gap yet to be honest.

No contacts would have to isolate at any time would they. If T&T got as far as phoning and asking what date symptoms started / positive test result, you would give the true date which was a lot more than 10 days ago. So there wouldn’t be any identified contacts in the 10 days post symptoms starting.

That's a great point, thanks!
