Am I fully vaccinated?

I had my first dose of AstraZeneca in March.

Due to a history of blood clots it was decided that since I’m under 40, I would be given Pfizer as my second dose.

I received the dose 13 weeks after my AstraZeneca vaccine.

I was talking to a colleague at work yesterday and she told me I’m not fully vaccinated and won’t have “good protection” against Covid.

It’s really panicked me and I’m just looking for some advice.

I have tried to contact my GP and have to wait for a call back.

Get the NHS app (not the contact tracing one) and see if you can get the covid passes. If so, you are classed as fully vaccinated.
There is some suggestion that mixing vaccines can be better, but I dont think its fully investigated yet.

Is your colleague a doctor, or some sort of vaccination specialist? Or are they just talking out of their arse.

Mixing types of vaccines has been standard for some patients in other countries. The NHS decided to mix your vaccine doses in this way and you've had the two they've arranged for you. It wasn't oh your AZ doesn't count so we'll start again from scratch with two pfizer, it was your second dose will be pfizer. Job done!

No, she’s not.

She seemed pretty convincing though and I’m already quite anxious about Covid so this has worried me more now.

Yes OP. You are fully vaccinated. You may even have better protection than someone who has had the same type of vaccine for both, although we won't know that for sure for a while.
Your colleague is quite frankly, both ill-informed and an arsehole.

Onehotmess · 11/08/2021 09:37

Your colleague is a douche. Ignore them and listen to NHS.

starfro · 11/08/2021 09:40

You are double jabbed, and a mix is very likely to give you better protection than using the same vaccine for both doses.

GameSetMatch · 11/08/2021 09:54

I thought if you had two different jabs it was better protection!?
I’m sure I’ve heard that somewhere….

marmiteonmykeyboard · 11/08/2021 09:58

In same position as you OP but for different reasons. I have been told by a vaccination specialist that I am as well covered as someone who has had two doses of one vaccine. Try to put this worry behind you and if possible avoid that colleague. Saddened that someone should say that to someone in your position.

CrunchyCarrot · 11/08/2021 09:59

Yes, you're fully vaccinated. In fact you may get better antibody levels by vaccine-mixing. There's been some research done on this.

Cookerhood · 11/08/2021 12:09

Your colleague is just jealous that you may have better protection. Of course you are fully vaccinated.

Alondra · 11/08/2021 12:18

You are fully vaccinated. Your colleague is an idiot who doesn't know what they are talking about. As it's been mentioned, there are many articles talking about how mixing AZ and Pfizer offers better immunity.

Thanks all. This has really helped to put my mind at ease.
