Anyone travelled to Ireland recently?

I am due to go to Ireland this weekend to see my family after almost two years of not seeing them. I have been a bit stupid and not looked closely enough at the entry requirements. I know that proof of double vaccination means you don't have to quarantine. I've had both doses. However, I didn't realise it took up to 7 days to verify my identity on the NHS app. I do have botj my paper cards from when I was vaccinated. The Irish consulate in London website seems to suggest that this is sufficient proof. Can anyone confirm if they've got through using this? I really don't want to get into issues when we arrive.

There are a couple of threads about this in the Craicnet section that might help you

MrsMaiselsRedCoat · 10/08/2021 23:36

I think you'll be fine with your paper certs.

bumpertobumper · 10/08/2021 23:37

I arrived in Ireland a few days ago by boat, they just asked if I was vaccinated- didn't ask for any proof.
Anecdotalally it is luck of who you get but the card is bound to be fine.

Also, nhs app verification for me took or day ( despite sayi g it could take a week).

Also don't forget the passenger locator form on government website. Again I was just asked if it was done, didn't actually look at it but they have details in the system somewhere if they need to find me.

@MrsMaiselsRedCoat thank you, will take a look over on craicnet. I think I might have a breakdown if it was an issue!

@bumpertobumper thank you, blood pressure going down now, maybe I will actually be able to get some sleep tonight!

I went with Ryanair and they weren't interested in the vaccination card because it was from overseas so I showed them a lateral flow test result (free test from UK.gov site) and they were happy with that. No checks when we arrived into Dublin.

BlueRaincoat1 · 10/08/2021 23:51

I flew with Ryanair 2 weeks ago. No one checked my vaccine cert anywhere on the way to Ireland, although I was asked if I had it. Hopefully it won't take the full 7 days for your verification to come through - my trip home was also the first in 2 years, it was great to get home. Loads of luck x

BlueRaincoat1 · 10/08/2021 23:53

When did you have your second jab?

bumblenbean · 10/08/2021 23:57

Are you flying or sailing? We just got back on boat today, had to show the NHS app certificate on the way out but not the way back.

Pumpkinpops · 11/08/2021 00:04

@bumblenbean sailing.

@BlueRaincoat1 a few weeks ago. Just haven't done the identitt verification on the NHS app until tonight. Once that's accepted, presumably the vaccination proof part is quick?

The consulate website says "The NHS Covid Pass, vaccination status letter, paper vaccine card or proof of a positive RT-PCR COVID-19 test result at least 11 days prior to arrival (and no more than 180 days prior) will all be accepted."

So hopefully should be ok even if NHS app identity verification doesn't come through in time.

@Grapefruity surprised by that as all the information seems to say a PCR test is needed if you don't have proof of vaccination!

I was showing our vaccine cards (from the US) and they looked very confused so they asked if we had a pcr test. I said we had lateral flow tests and they barely looked at them to be honest. They also wanted the passenger locator form which they seemed to be more strict about.

BlueRaincoat1 · 11/08/2021 00:37

I can't remember the NHS app verification taking any time at all to be honest. And once you have the records on the app, the cert thing is just there as part of it.

Same! From memory, it was immediate.

I’m just back from a trip home (to Ireland). I flew though, and was asked for my covid cert and passenger location form at the airport. Nothing on arrival.

Good luck, I let sounds like you’ll be totally fine and that the card is fit for purpose though anyway Smile

Pumpkinpops · 11/08/2021 09:41

Thanks all. Fingers crossed the verification will come through quickly, although it seems the paper cards should be acceptable anyway.
