Confusion after 10 days isolation

Hi please be kind as I'm confused.

If a person tests positive they isolate for 10 days. Their partner tested negative but obviously isolated for 10 days with them.

After the 10 days the partner returns to work but did a home test just incase it was negative. Person who had COVID did a test to return to work which is positive. Do they both have have to isolate again for 10 days?

This isn't about me so don't have all the details.

No, no isolation required for anyone.

You can continue to test positive for covid up to 3 months post infection. You are advised not to test again within this 3 month period. It doesn’t mean you have to keep isolating!

You arent supposed to test again within 90 days of a positive test if you have no symptoms. It can pick up fragments of the old infection even when no longer contagious

RevolvingPivot · 10/08/2021 11:42

I think one of them was told to do one for work so they both did.

This.

There was a story way back when this started of some uni lads who got stuck in Italy for weeks because they wouldn't let them fly until they tested negative.

That's when it came out about tests remaining positive for up to 90 days and in some cases longer.

I think she still has symptoms. Are you infectious after 10 days? I've not had it thankfully so I'm unsure.

I hope I don't get is as I wouldn't have a clue what to do. What if the symptoms last longer than the 10 days?

We are supposed to go out for daughters birthday tomorrow and we go away straight after. Are these family members ok to come?

Track and trace should have said which symptoms are relevant, IIRC it's temperature and runny nose = self isolate still ( after 10 days ) but the cough can linger so you can return to normal.
dementedpixie · 10/08/2021 11:55

If you still feel unwell then you keep isolating until you feel better again. If you feel well after 10 days you can stop isolating if you no longer have a temperature. A cough and loss of taste/smell can linger for weeks

What symptoms do they have?

They should have been opted out of the regular testing for work
Bobholll · 10/08/2021 12:11

Their work should know that they cannot test for 90 days post infection.

If you still have a fever, vomiting & still feel unwell then they should continue to isolate. But if they just have a continued cough or loss of taste/smell then it’s fine. These can go on for weeks.

Most people are not contagious after 10 days.

Thanks I'll leave them to sort it with work. They aren't coming with us tomorrow.
