How many people haven't had Covid yet?

Are there any figures on how many people in the UK haven't had covid yet? Can you get it more than once?

I haven’t had it yet and neither has DP- we test regularly through the ONS study plus lateral flows and they have always been negative.

Both my sons have had it though (one twice) and my mum. Also know a lot of friends and colleagues who have had it.

I had it at Xmas, now have it again. Same symptoms (head ache and tired, nothing else). I’m not vaccinated (not wanting a debate on that).

My daughter who was 6 at the time, spent 30 minutes in a car with someone who got symptoms 2 days later and went on to have a positive test result the day after that.

She caught covid, the rest of the house didn't and she shared my bed a couple of times.

Her sister didn't catch it and she was in the same car.

If we did we didn't have symptoms but I was tested for work and they were negative so I'm assuming not.

@MyCatDribbles

I know of several people who have had it, though me and my family haven’t to our knowledge.

Though I did have a strange virus in January 2020 which included a dry cough and temp so am wondering whether I was one of the first bunch in the U.K. to get it

I'm sure I had it mid December 2019. Worst flu ever and could not taste anything. Everyone in my office caught it and even the ones that never go off had to go off sick

None of my close family, friends or colleagues have tested positive. A few of them isolated last March-April with coughs but no other symptoms, and I know 2 people who were quite ill around then but not sufficient to require hospital treatment so were never tested. One of my team was terribly unwell in January 2020 with what we suspected was a chest infection, I now think was probably Covid.

Friends of friends, more distant family, people in work I know to say hello to but don't know well have been tested positive but no-one I'm close to. I am surprised by this as our area was very high prevalence last winter.

User135644 · 11/08/2021 08:17

I was ill in March 2020 with what felt like a chest infection but there were no tests at that time, so who knows? I haven't had it since unless asymptomatic.

User135644 · 11/08/2021 08:25

Lockdowns would have saved loads of transmission in spring 2020 and early 2021 and the vaccines through 2021 as well.

Without the vaccines now we'd be screwed over the Delta variant.

None of my immediate family.
I imagine that will change in September as I am a primary school teacher and have 1 dc at another school and 2 at high school!

We had 4 known cases at my school.
While there was probably some asymptomatic, that means just over 5% have had it as far as we know.

Now no one will be isolating unless positive themselves it will surely go through schools, which I suppose is what the government want.

We live in an area that has had consistently high rates of covid. I work in education and carried on going into the office throughout. Visited supermarkets etc. DC in primary school. I know barely anyone who tested positive (a few acquaintances from work and that's it). We've never had it, close friends and family haven't had it. DC bubble never burst, etc. Perhaps we have been very lucky?

Pinchoftums · 11/08/2021 08:44

I know loads of people that have tested positive (including DH, DSis, MIL and lots of close friends). But also lots like me who got ill in March 2020 but never had a test. Though my friend who I spent the weekend with had positive antibodies when he was randomly tested in about July 2020. But unless everyone was antibody tested before having vaccines we will never know.

Me and my family.

LionGiraffe · 11/08/2021 13:11

I haven’t, nor has anyone in my household or immediate family (parents, siblings). I only know four people - a friend, a work colleague, my aunt and her husband - who tested positive. All had very mild symptoms are completely fine.
