Coughing episode

So does anyone know what a coughing episode is?
The covid criteria is 3 or more coughing episodes in an hr ?
I would consider a coughing episode to be coughing for 5 minutes or so or several coughs in few minutes ?
Where as others seem to consider just one cough an episode
Surely it could be a little clearer.

Since going back to school last September, I have found this tricky too. I started making a note of the time when I first noticed/ heard a child coughing, (believe me it stands out and you are on high alert!!) and then if they kept coughing (on and off) over the next hour or so, we sent them to SLT. Some children started coughing repeatedly and just couldn't catch their breath, others coughed every 10 mins or so, just one cough each time. All of those we sent home had a PCR test and none of them tested positive.

Any new cough, that's more than just once or twice, I would say get tested.

I mean... We are 17 months into this shitshow now and if you don't know what a bad cough is by now, we are all screwed.

If you've got a cough that's bothering you for a few hours, and isn't caused by a foreign object, dust or allergens then get a flippin test.

@HalloHello I know what a bad cough is that isn't the question I asked is it
I asked what people considered an episode as in one cough or several , I am not the only one confused by this, this was a question we were discussing in real life with a group of people

Do you have a cough?
If you do get a test.

Basically, would you describe yourself as having a cough is a good rule of thumb.

If you know there is a non-viral cause I.e. dust, something’s gone down the wrong way, then you’re fine. If you think it’s because there’s an underlying illness, regardless of whether you think that illness is covid then that’s a cough you should get tested for.

I’m not sure the whole continuous cough thing was helpful.

@WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor no just a discussion I was having at work when hearing people coughing etc
