Please help. My daughter has coronavirus and she is desperately Ill with diahrrea, vomiting, fever..mm she has barely ate in the last two days and is drinking but little.

I've never seen her so I'll and I'm so worried. The doctor said it's normal as a lot of kids get sick in their stomachs with Covid and to just keep offering her water and making her eat a little of fruit etc even if she doesn't keep it down....

She's 7 for context.

excellent news

We always give flat full sugar lemonade & ready salted crisps as they replace salts and sugar lost with d&v/sickness. Hope she feels better soon

Oh poor wee mite. Lots of good advice on here. Flat Sugary Coke helps. Don't worry about food.

Hope she pulls around soon.

Also, someone upthread mentioned coconut water. A doctor recommended that to me yesterday. And small bits of banana when able to eat.

Glad to hear she’s felt a bit better!

Hope your little one is feeling better. A few years ago my ds had d&v GP said add a teaspoon of sugar to lemonade (not diet) and stir this takes the fizz out after initial huge fizzing. Take sips every 10-15 mins. It is always my go to. And when they want to start eating again McDonald’s chicken nuggets and chips with a full fat coke. The only time they get to eat such food and they think of McDonald’s as medicine food!

My mum used to stir a teaspoon of glucose into full fat coke to make it fizz up and then go flat.

When my dd had intussusception one of the things that kept her from total collapse from the constant vomiting was that I had given her sips of squash with glucose in. She vomited all the squash but the glucose was partly absorbed even in the 20 odd mins she was keeping things down.

If you have ice pops, they are a good way of getting fluids into her. If not, make a glass of strong squash and pour into an ice cube tray. Stick some tooth picks or some form of stick into each one at a random angle and freeze.

Cheese twists are good to eat as they are dry and a bit salty so don't upset the stomach but still get some salt and calories into her.

Well vomiting has stopped - diahrrea is a lot less now... But she still seems so weak. She has eaten more today, little bits at breakfast, lunch and dinner - has been drinking more. I think it's gonna take her a while to recover, it's been 5 days so far.
