Covid and a 4 month old

Sorry if this has been done before.

I got a positive LFT yesterday and just went for a PCR just now. Ive felt a bit run down all week but lost my sense of smell Friday along with a bad cough so I think it's likely I have it.

I have a four month old baby and a 2 year old, what's the guidance around this? I'm not BF but the only advice I can see is to isolate away from the family. My DH is around and will be working from home but am I really expected to lock myself away until I'm better? I think it's a mild case but I'm terrified of passing it to my children. I've been wearing a mask and washing my hands frequently but wondered if anyone else has any tips?

No, you do not have to lock yourself away from your children. If you are positive then you will have been contagious for days anyway. Carry on breastfeeding and getting rest to feel better.
I hope you are recovered soon

I could have written this, just had 2 positive LFT and am going for a PCR test shortly. I have a 3 month old who I am breastfeeding and a 4 year old. Like you I am terrified of passing it on to them. Feel a bit achey, upset stomach and headachey. Just hoping it doesn't get worse.

I hope you are ok.

Your children will almost certainly have a milder case than you, unless they have a specific vulnerability the vast majority of little ones are not very poorly. It's more important for little ones to get affection from mummy than to avoid covid. Most important to reduce the amount of transmission is to have windows open for ventilation, and wear a mask when you're very close; that would help with a milder infection. If you were going to infect them then you probably already have though, so don't over think it. Get well soon.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

@Glitterazzi that's exactly how I feel, I'm hoping I don't get worse and I hope you don't either!
