I’ve been completely up to speed with all the rules/guidance throughout so can’t quite believe I need to ask this here but here goes….

Colleague at DH work has tested positive this week for Covid. DH last worked with her last Saturday but sits at least 10 metres away and hasn’t had any close contact at all - not even walked past each other. They work in a huge open space not a tiny office or anything.

I actually thought DH and the rest of the small team would have to isolate but DH’s manager has stated that only those within 2m and for 15+ mins will have to isolate.
Is this correct?!

We are going on holiday tomorrow and dreading a text or phone call from T & T telling DH to isolate!

Also, to allay my anxiety, I would assume DH would have shown symptoms by now if he had caught it from his colleague? It’s been 7 days since last contact.

Yes, DH’s manager is correct. Also, it’s close contacts 48 hours before symptoms/positive test, which doesn’t sound like is the case anyway?

My understanding is 2m or less for less than 15 mins. Your DH doesn't need to isolate, but if he did it'd be for 10 days following contact. You can go on holiday - if either of you are particularly worried about the risk of spreading it, I know LFTs aren't 100% but he could take one up until Tuesday.

She didn’t feel well on the Saturday when she was last in - but doesn’t believe in Covid Hmm

Yes, that’s what we are thinking of doing.

Here is the definition of a close contact of someone you don’t live with:

“ face-to-face contact including being coughed on or having a face-to-face conversation within one metre

been within one metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact

been within 2 metres of someone for more than 15 minutes (either as a one-off contact, or added up together over one day)”

From the official definition here

T&T call on a 0300 number - just ignore it
