MIL had it in jan, she had one jab but had only recently had it so I don't think it was very effective.

She isolated with her DH and teenage son and neither of them caught it.

My DM recently had it, my sister lives with her and caught it but our cousin who also lives with them didn't catch it

SilverGlitterBaubles · 06/08/2021 08:57

DD had it and it did not spread to anyone else, DH and I both fully vaccinated and DS not vaccinated.

M0rT · 06/08/2021 09:00

My DM had it and my Dad didn't catch it despite sharing a bed and bathroom with her for five days until she was diagnosed. She also only had a stuffy nose and this was last year so only found out she had it through work testing.
My brother had it this summer so probably Delta and his girlfriend who lives with him in a one bed flat didn't get it.
They were both waiting on vaccine appointments as in their twenties.
So their us hope for your family, I would try keep your partner at a distance for a while though. Be awful if he got really sick with it when ye have such young children, probably tired enough already!

OliveTree75 · 06/08/2021 09:01

DP got it in march. Me and oue DS1 caught it. Our 5yo and 10 month old didn't catch it despite really close contact

RamblesShambles · 06/08/2021 09:08

I had it just before Christmas. Caught from my son who caught it at school. Me and him kept our distance from everyone else. Partner slept on the sofa but my baby still slept in my room. Partner and baby didn't catch it.

Twokitstwokats · 06/08/2021 11:55

5 of us live together, 2 adults, 3 smal children. One child tested positive but the rest of us stayed negative with no symptoms.

BlueVira · 06/08/2021 12:09

My DH currently has it and my DS tested positive too. I'm continuing to test negative..wierd.

Keep windows open. Ventilation will hopefully reduce the viral load, which could mean a milder illness for your family members.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 06/08/2021 12:14

Statistically you have a less than 50% chance of catching covid from a household member but obviously that's a global population figure and no one predict what will happen in an individual case. All you can do is wait and see unfortunately.

AliciaMayEmory · 06/08/2021 12:15

DH has had it twice (before vacinations were available to our age group) both times confirmed with a pcr and no one else in the household caught it. We didn't particularly distance from him or do anything differently either. Household is DH, me and 2 DC.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 06/08/2021 12:17

There is one person in my house that has it st the minute. We're now on day 10 and nobody else caught it

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 06/08/2021 12:18

I'm not a doctor but I don't think that's what viral load means.

Opening the window is a good way to reduce the chance of infection but I don't think it affects how I'll you might be if you do catch it.

blackcurrantqueen · 06/08/2021 12:20

My OH caught it and then my DD on d3
We are now d9 and I haven't caught it yet
Just had a PCR done in order to be able to go to work next week.. hoping it is negative

FunnysInLaJardin · 06/08/2021 13:04

I tested positive on Monday, DS1 tested positive on Tuesday and DS2 tested positive today. DH has returned 2 negative tests.

So 3 out of 4 in our household

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/08/2021 13:08

I had it in October, none of my three teens caught it... or had symptoms in any case...we sort of kept our distance but not excessively...

Badbadbunny · 06/08/2021 13:18

3 people on our household. One tested positive and had mild symptoms. None of the others caught it.

But, we just spread ourselves out as much as possible. I.e. different rooms for watching TV, only one person in the kitchen at a time, no close personal contact, reading in the garden (coats on) rather than inside, eating in separate rooms rather than around a dining table, leaving as much time as possible between going into the bathroom for loo, shower, washing, etc, i.e. instead of us all having showers around the same time, we moved to one in the morning, one in the afternoon, one in the evening, to let the room ventilate between people. We just made the best use of the limited space that we could.

Fastforwardtospring · 06/08/2021 15:58

4 people in our household, just out of 10 day isolation as DS had Covid, a mild case, unwell for couple of days, he was happy to isolate in his room as didn’t want DD13 to catch it, she’s asthmatic, DH & I are double vax’d, luckily he didn’t pass it on. I’m not so scared of it now.

HungryHippo11 · 06/08/2021 23:22

DD4 tested positive.
DD1 had the same symptoms so I assume also positive (didn't bother to test as we were isolating anyway)
DH and I - nothing

annlee3817 · 06/08/2021 23:31

I had it, my DD hung to me all week and my DH shared a bed with me, lived in a flat at the time and they didn't get Covid

to92 · 09/08/2021 11:30

Thank you everyone, will I have to have a negative latrel flow on day ten? Or will my latrel flow always be positive? One day it’s positive then I did one today after a while it was positive but up to thirty minutes no faint line until after the 30 was up.. x

We had covid when the rules changed from 14 days isolation to 10 days. We were allowed to be free from 10 days, we didn’t have to continue to 14 days despite getting covid before the rule change. It was amazing. We were on day 9 when they changed the rules & suddenly we had one day left to go instead of 5! We didn’t have to cancel our trip to see Santa or another Christmas experience we had booked!

x2boys · 09/08/2021 11:46

We have just finished self isolating, my ds1 tested positive two weeks ago, there are four of us in a small two bedroom house with one bathroom, non of the rest of us have tested positive both myself and dh are fully vaccinated..

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 09/08/2021 11:47

I had it in November. My 10 month old baby was fine

BuddleiasBeesAndButterflies · 09/08/2021 16:09

Out of 5 of us only 10 year old has not tested positive, Dh and I fully vaccinated
