Are there any MNs who are caring for a partner with Long Covid? Desperately in need of support as DP is getting no better and has been ill on and off for 18 months. The NHS and other websites only offer eat well, don't over-exercise (he can't even go for a short walk) get a good night's sleep (he's sleeping most of the day some days) and GP although sympathetic can't offer much. Even the Long Covid clinics only ask questions and don't offer practical support. Has anyone got any suggestions please? TIA.

The only person I know who is very ill had got support through his needs more than diagnosis. It has been slow but has some input from his GP, social services including OT. Through reports they qualify for PIP but I do not know the details regarding that.

I was ill for just over a year.
His central nervous system has taken a battering and can’t get back to normal.
It can take a long long time to rebalance. There is no magic treatment.
Things that help:
Rehydration salts every morning
Probiotics every day
Salty food
2 litres of water a day
Staying quiet
Doing half of what you feel capable of. In my case it was going downstairs to watch tv for an hour.
Learning to calm your system down. I couldn’t meditate I was dreadful at it. But doing sudoku from a book, not a screen helped my brain get in the zone.
He won’t suddenly jump up and say ‘I’m fine now’ it’s a long, slow frustrating progress with loads of setback and relapses.
It takes months to see any tiny progress.
I’m managing to work three days a week now. Usually on my first day off I sleep for most of the day. For the last three weeks I’ve only slept for a couple of hours.

Thanks Bati hugs for you too. It's heartbreaking to watch and feel unable to help. DP has become an old man. He is 71 TBF but was an active man until Long Covid struck. Waiting to talk to GP later to update his medical record.
