Just that really
How long did you feel unwell for and how severe were your symptoms?

Not me but a friend felt like he had a heavy cold for a few days. He tested negative on a PCR about a week after his symptoms ended. (private PCR as he travels for work and needed to know if he would still pass a PCR)

I felt iffy for 2-3 days (but tired a little longer) and my husband had a heavy cold for 3-4 days. We both carried on working from home.

I was poorly for 3 days... tested positive on the 23rd July. Still struggling to get back to normal activities though- my chest is still quite bad (no underlying health issues that I know of)

Thanks all this is vaguely reassuring as I’m just at the few days of a head cold feeling but keep reading on line stories of it ramping up to be much, much worse at day 7 and getting myself all het up!

Keep on top of the paracetamol, keep hydrated and sleep when you need to. I hope you stay okay.

About a week of heavy cold symptoms for DS but taste and smell still not back 3 weeks later

Hedgepogg · 05/08/2021 09:34

Yes, 9 weeks after my second jab I tested positive. I fortunately only had a mild headache, fatigue and a temp and it lasted 48 hours. I am usually very poorly with my chest when I get any virus, so I was hugely relieved.

DD had a positive LFT on a Monday morning, when we all did PCR later that day fully vaccinated DH was also positive. He had no symptoms till the Saturday and then had the Mon to Wed off work but he wasn't really really poorly, he was watching TV with the kids and even did baking one day but would get tired easily if he tried to keep going for any length of time so couldn't work. So it was like a bad cold.

About a week. Felt like a heavy cold. Spent weekend in bed but then did manage to work (from home as per usual), although was still feeling pretty fuzzy-headed. But not so awful that o definitely had to call in sick.

My husband had covid pre vaccination and I read and waited that he would get worse on day 7. He had 8 days of high temps but then was fine. The vaccine will hopefully prevent you becoming poorly. Try to relax and rest. It’s very unlikely you will get worse

DH and I (AZ double vaxxed) and DD(14) have all been ill in the past fortnight (so presumably Delta variant). It has been really mild for all of us.

It started with DH and DD sneezing a bit, which didn't seem particularly unusual until it became more regular. Bizarrely DD didn't get a +ve LFT until about 5 days after DH's (she and I had negative PCR's the day after DH's positive). I am now positive 7 days after DH.

DH had a rough first day, with a bit of a fever. Aside from the sneezing and runny nose he just felt really tired (so an early night did the trick). He was left with a husky voice and an occasional cough but has been happily working 8+ hours/day from home throughout including plenty of video calls with a fair amount of talking.

DD had more violent sneezing fits and a very sore throat for about 5 days. She had trouble sleeping/looked really tired for a couple of days. She's back to normal and miffed that she has had to cancel so much this school holidays.

I started with itchy eyes (usually a sign of a cold coming) and a sore throat which haven't really gone. The runny nose (think at least 10 tissues a day) soon followed by bouts of sneezing. I was still getting -ve LFTs for a further 2 days at this point. Then the headache came. It was very similar to the one I had after my flu jab and Covid vaccines. My ribs hurt a bit from the sneezing and I am not sure that I would particularly feel like going out and about, even if I could. I don't feel particulalry unwell, but I've been sick a couple of times (but that was probably my fault for spraying throat spray and then gagging). Paracetamol is keeping the edge off my headache.

Had I not been doing the Zoe study I really wouldn't have twigged that we had Covid. None of us have had a bad cough or loss of taste and smell (which is quite an achievement considering how many tissues we've got through!).

The thing that strikes me is how long it took for the disease to spread to all of us (we'd been away on holiday so were spending a lot of time together in close contact). We are in a couple of Covid study samples and it was a bit of a fluke we had to do lots of PCR and LFT tests in that fortnight.

I hope you all feel better soon - Covid clearly affects people in very different ways.

Someone I was working with on Tuesday (vaccinator at a vaccine centre!) had it recently and still has no smell or taste two months later.
