I know it's different for everyone but when did your teenager start to feel better? My DD has been ill for 8 days. Her temperature isn't as high but she has lost all sense of taste and smell and is just exhausted and very blocked up.
I'm a natural worrier!
It's been so long since any of my kids have been ill - when their little it's just constant. You forget how miserable it is.

I think it's different for everyone, so no one can actually tell you. Sad I hope your DD feels better soon.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 13:13

@LynetteScavo You're probably right.

DS1 - back to normal after 10-12 days, incl taste & smell. Taking a bit of time to feel 'fit' again though - not ready for the gym etc yet.
DS2 - still feeling tired at the end of 10 day isolation (today) but I think will feel better once able to get out of the house etc.

My dsd 19 has it now. Today is day 5 and she's pretty much back to normal.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 13:37

@NormaSnorks Thanks. I hope theyre back to normal soon.
I'm on day 16 of isolation with 4 more to go.
I can’t wait to get out

@Coffeeonmytoffee Why are you isolating for 20 days?
You know if someone else in your family tests positive while you are isolating that you don't need to start another 10 day isolation with them?

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 15:07

@NormaSnorks I was pinged because of someone I worked with then on the very last day my DD got a temperature so the next 10 started!

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 15:08

@NormaSnorks But I didn’t know that.

I was told this by Test and Trace - three times in one conversation but could hardly believe it.

NormaSnorks · 01/08/2021 15:32

I know, it doesn't make sense and I posted previously about it, but the conclusion is that it's to prevent those in larger families ending up in serial isolation for several weeks!

Surely it's still 20 days though as the first 10 were from an external person, not a family member?

Tubbs99 · 01/08/2021 15:42

Hope your DD feels better soon. It must be worrying. My teen DS tested positive however he was completely asymptomatic (spent isolation bored out of his mind) and thankfully hasn’t had any long term effects. My friend’s DS also tested positive and had the loss of taste for about a month. He’s completely fine now.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 15:42

Track and trace told me I needed to isolate again.
The day before she got symptoms she was upset and I spent about an hour cuddling her and she cried on my shoulder. So I was convinced I’d have it. But 8 days later and loads of tests I still haven’t. The second isolation made more sense than the first.

that chart shows the rules for household contact. I would have though that the ping isolation and household isolation are 2 different isolations.

Dd1 suddenly got better on about day 7. She was quiet poorly when she went to bed and got up in the morning and said she felt better.

Yes, if it's from an external contact you would have to isolate again - when the OP first posted that wasn't clear and I thought perhaps the whole family had had it.
Blueskythinking123 · 01/08/2021 16:44

@Coffeeonmytoffee my DD tested positive on lateral flow. I was negative on lateral flow but booked a PCR with my DD.

My PCR was positive. I've done loads of lateral flow tests, none have been positive. My symptoms have been minimal. I'm double jabbed.

Coffeeonmytoffee · 01/08/2021 16:53

I was in some study group and have done nine billion lateral flow tests and 4 PCR

I KNOW IM GONNA GET IT ON DAY 9!!

I had no idea family members could escape after ten days even if another member is positive.
I have so many parcels to return I can’t wait to be in a queue at the post office!
Exciting.
