Isolation/negative test

Advice please. So I was advised to self isolate last Friday by the app. I've been doing lateral flows all negative, I did a pcr yesterday got results today negative.
Could I end my isolation now I have negative results?

The App is advisory only, so you are not legally obliged to follow it (they don't know who you are). It probably isn't the time to spend the day indoors with a vulnerable, unvaccinated friend, but if you are sensible...

Coincidentally DH picked up what turned out to be Covid on holiday (more like a cold and a husky voice TBH - he's fine). Test and Trace (the people you do have to listen to) have put me in a daily testing study where I have to take and log lateral flow tests every morning for 10 days, but can carry on as normal if they turn out to be negative.

The study sounds rather like what you were doing OP.

You shouldn’t really end isolation, can you click on the app to find out when the contact was and decide if you think you were near enough to anyone. It’s not law, but advisable.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 28/07/2021 15:45

No.

You can test and release only from travel quarantine.

If you are the close contact of a confirmed case, then it's the full 10days regardless of any test results

Negative tests don't release you from isolation
Mammyloveswine · 28/07/2021 15:46

I'd ignore the app tbh

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/07/2021 19:37

You don't even have to be isolating if you're pinged by the app, only if you are contacted by T&T.

I'm glad I deleted the app!

MarcelineMissouri · 28/07/2021 19:47

If you’ve not actually been contacted by test and trace then you are not required to isolate anyway. The app is guidance only.

Yet I’ve been told test and trace can take days to contact direct contacts.
MarcelineMissouri · 28/07/2021 23:15

I’m not sure what your point is really. You don’t have to isolate if you are only notified by the app. You have to isolate once contacted by test and trace. You do not have to isolate in case you get a call….. obviously people know their own situations and can decide to do that if they think it’s appropriate.

Personally I wouldn’t be isolating on the off chance I might get a call from them and as op was pinged 5 days ago now it is getting increasingly unlikely that she will get a call.

nope 👎

Siameasy · 28/07/2021 23:27

I would end it

BoomChicka · 29/07/2021 00:44

You opted in to the "pingdemic" by downloading the app.. so you tell me?

I could say I went to Aldi on Sunday, tested negative on LFT Since, did a PCR for fun yesterday which was negative, can I go to sainsbury's tomorrow?

ifonly4 · 29/07/2021 07:37

In the past I would have said, do what you think is the right thing. However, I'm now in the position I can go to work if I have a negative PCR and daily negative LFTs, can use public transport to get there. However, I can't go for a walk in my own time, get a takeaway!

RoseAndRose · 29/07/2021 08:03

The 'pingdemic' is not because the app is faulty

There are lots of pings because people are out and about whilst transmission is high.

So it's not a problem that my phone could ping if someone in one of the neighbouring flats tested positive?
