Definition of fully U.K. vaccinated

Can anyone help?

If travelling from the US (amber) you can avoid quarantine if vaccinated under a U.K. programme.

I'm reading this as basically vaccinated by the U.K. but living overseas eg if you're military.

They're reading it as vaccinated under the same programme as we use in the U.K. ie if you've had 2 Moderna vaccines 6 weeks apart plus 2 weeks, then you don't need to quarantine.

Which is right?

Thanks

I didn't understand it either.

I read that a UK expat would need to have their vaccination certificate verified by their GP in the UK. That is confusing because expats don't live in the UK so they wouldn't have a GP in the UK.

Our family got the J&J vaccine so we don't have two shots. I wonder if that's suitable to the authorities in the UK.

I think we are holding off visiting our UK family for a few more weeks until it's all clear.

Well, I'm fully vaccinated in the EU but the only vaccinations the govt currently accepts are those administered by the NHS. So despite my 2 AstraZeneca jabs, I can't visit yet because I can't quarantine for 10 days.
Don't know if that's the same as the terms you're looking at for the US.

Me too. Read the proposed changes yesterday, hopefully some logical clarification later this week!

I think it just means you have to have a UK GP and a UK approved vax. The GP then adds to your NHS record.

Problem is of course very few people who are based overseas have a uk GP....

UnaOfStormhold · 27/07/2021 21:35

I think it's currently the first but with plans to move to the second with verification from an NHS GP.

PeonyTime · 27/07/2021 21:40

They need to be on the NHS system.
If you can get your vaccinations from abroad registered with an (English?) GP, and get it into the app, you are good to go.

If you actually live abroad, and have, as is correct, removed yourself from your GPs list you are scuppered, as getting a GP appointment is quite hard currently. Even if you still have an English GP, getting the vaccinations into the system seems to be hard, and surgery dependant. (We have got foreign vaccinations recorded on our medical notes, but not as a visitor, and not during a pandemic).

Wigeon · 27/07/2021 21:44

Currently, this means either vaccinated in the UK, or vaccinated overseas but under the direct control of the UK. This is a very small number of people, including UK foreign office staff overseas and UK military staff overseas. It definitely doesn’t mean “vaccinated abroad by the foreign country’s heath ministry with a vaccine which is also approved in the UK”.

It might mean that in future, but as of today it definitely doesn’t. (Am working on the national vaccine programme).

Geamhradh · 27/07/2021 21:48

Yes, that's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying @Wigeon.

titchy · 27/07/2021 21:51

@Wigeon do you happen to know if there's a timescale for combining vax records form different uk nations so students for example who study in another nation and have vaccinations in both uni and parent centres?

AndSoFinally · 27/07/2021 21:53

Thank you @Wigeon, that was my interpretation, but theirs had me questioning!

@titchy - very almost there with Scotland /Wales/England, in fact I think the latest is that Covid vaxxs done in England are appearing in patients’ Welsh or Scottish NHS records and almost happening vice versa. Keep an eye on the NHS App as hopefully they’ll appear soon.

Not yet happening N Ireland/England.

Not happening at all (yet) with vaxs done abroad for people with an English GP.

titchy · 27/07/2021 22:03

Brilliant thanks you! Fingers crossed.

Banani · 28/07/2021 06:02

For England it’s currently the first, but likely to be changing in the coming weeks

@Wigeon omg really? I ve been boring people all over MN with DD's tale of woe re'Scots/Eng vax status... we've tried everything we can to get this sorted but STILL getting a whole load of computer says no re getting her 1st jab (Scots) recognised. If Eng ones are appearing on Scots records is that because people are asking this of their (old) Scots GP?
I know we've all had a shit couple of years but there are reasons I so want this sorted for her. 🙁

Mindymomo · 28/07/2021 06:47

I have registered our details on the NHS online app. We are in uk and have uk gp. For my DH, it was pretty straightforward, not many questions asked, but for my adult son, he had to provide driving licence photo ID and a few other details.

Wigeon · 28/07/2021 13:28

@Wilkolampshade - it’s largely because the the respective Scottish NHS IT and English NHS IT systems are joining up so that the data flows behind the scenes with no need for the patients to do anything. Sounds like your DD has an English GP but had one dose in Scotland? If so, your DD’s vax records should appear soon in the NHS App/ Covid pass.

Wilkolampshade · 28/07/2021 13:52

@Wigeon thanks, yes, 1st Scotland 2nd England, I really, really hope you're right. It's the constant dashing of hope that's killing her. We keep thinking of work rounds but get nowhere, no-one she's talked to yet (at either end) think it will be possible 😳.... I know a handful of her peers in the same situation and they're all so fed up. Finger's crossed. 🤞

titchy · 30/07/2021 09:39

Just to come back to this, dc (Welsh jab 1 and English jab 2) now has both appearing on their Covid pass! So they look to have joined up in the last day or so!

Wilkolampshade · 30/07/2021 10:47

@titchy thanks for that, gives us hope....

Wigeon · 30/07/2021 17:21
