Husband's work & positive results

Basically one of my husband's close colleagues has tested positive, but my husband's boss has said they will just pretend she had yesterday off as holiday (she went home at lunchtime after being told she was a contact of a positive test). DH's manager has told everyone to do a lateral flow test today then come back to work. Is this right? She was in for 8 hours yesterday with all other colleagues, office environment etc, no windows but fans on. He said he doesn't need to close the doors as can't afford it but clearly knows something isnt right as he told the team to say she wasn't at work yesterday.
Any help appreciated, I think he's wrong and that contacts of said colleague should isolate

DH has heard back from work, she said she was wfh and didn't have contact with anyone at work. Ffs so nobody will be contacted and DH and all work force back business as usual tomorrow.

@Mindymomo

She will get contacted by test and trace and asked for all her contacts in the previous 48 hours before she got tested, so will have to give all work colleagues details, then they should be in touch. My son had the same problem where he works, he advised his boss by text that according to rules he will be at home isolating for 10 days. Most employees did the same, but there were a couple who still decided to go in. They all tested and another 6 tested positive, but had no symptoms.
My experience with test and trace in a similar scenario ( not work related) when there were lots of contacts was to let me contact the contacts/ potential contacts and pass on the relevant guidence then let them decide if they should isolate and only contact test and trace if they wanted to get proof of isolation for an employer.

@mindymomo she lied and said said wasn't in the office, I'm not sure where that leaves us.

Frankly if they are lying you should lie too. Tell his boss he has a cough and has been advised to self isolate. Then get a PCR by post as it will be slow.

Starlive23 · 27/07/2021 17:27

@Applesandpears23 that's a good idea. If they won't play fair I don't see why we should.

All you can do is limit his contacts outside of work and take regular lfts, maybe do them daily as if he were part of the exemption trial

BoomChicka · 28/07/2021 07:46

This will be happening all the time. As a pp suggested, he could say he has symptoms and order a postal test as they are taking ages atm.

rookiemere · 28/07/2021 08:09

Yes I was going to suggest what @Applesandpears23 did.
He has a test due to "symptoms" even if it comes back negative keeps him out of the office until next week.

I do have sympathy for the boss, it must be nightmarish trying to run a business knowing at any minute all your employees can be sent home. In this case though it sounds more like covid denial than business reasons.

Absoloutley this.

Bloody DH's boss is still in office even though DH colleague stayed at his flat over the 3 days before she tested positive. You couldn't make this up. They have said they aren't closing due to a bloody flu!

DH is just going to isolate from us at home (his father in particular) as much as he can and do daily LFT. No wonder it's spread so far if this is how irresponsible people can be. I'm really angry about this but obviously DH can't lose job either so I feel like we are stuck.

Can your husband book in for a PCR test?

I had no symptoms at all and all my Lateral Flows were negative but went for a PCR test so I could continue to work (nhs worker) and it came back positive.

I then started to develop symptoms on day 5 after having my results back.

clickychicky · 30/07/2021 19:30

I think the council can do spot checks? I know a few places near my work place had people come in after being reported but not sure who they were.

vdbfamily · 30/07/2021 19:36

anyone closer to her than 2 metres for more than 15 minutes without a mask should be isolating/ working from home for 10 days from contact.
