Travelling back from Malta...

Sorry if this is in the wrong thread - happy for @MNHQ to move it where it needs to be.

I've been reading for the last hour and I think I just need a bit of confirmation as I'm not the brightest crayon in the pack and can't make sense of the rules for travelling.

I understand that travelling from Scotland to Malta I will not need a COVID-19 test as I am double vaccinated.

When travelling back to Scotland though, even though Malta is a green listed country it says I need a negative COVID-19 test - it says on the gov.Scot website that it includes a lateral flow test, but it says it must meet the sensitivity requirements. I can't find those anywhere for the NHS lateral flow devices.

Am I right in thinking if I take lateral flow devices with me to Malta, that my mother and I will be able to use these on the way back as proof of a negative result?

TIA

You will need certified ones, the nhs ones are not accepted.

No, you need to get them from certified places and get a certificate. Otherwise you could get anyone to do the tests for you.

Lateral Flow is risky because of inaccuracy.

One of my friends flew home from Malta to get married. She had a positive LFT test 3 days before she was supposed to fly home and 6 days before her wedding. It was a false positive confirmed by a negative PCR but Malta said the negative PCR did NOT rule out the positive LFT because it had reported and any recipient of the isolating letter had to stay put. They hadn't yet received their letter so the managed to book an earlier flight and legged it out of the country!

Thanks guys - I haven't the first clue where to find a testing facility in Malta but I'm sure my brother will help me out with that.

Also - probably a stupid question but is there any additional forms I need to fill out prior to travelling to Malta as we're no longer in the EU?
