Covid, now common cold?

Nsmum14 · 24/07/2021 17:08

Did anyone develop a common cold straight after being ill with covid?
We've been isolating, the whole family, so it seems unlikely that we've been exposed to the cold virus.
I have a blocked nose overnight though, and classic cold symptoms.
Just wondering if anyone else had this.

More likely to be ongoing covid symptoms

My daughter has it now. She's had worse colds than the symptom that she is currently experiencing, which is virtually nil, apart from at times a slightly stuffy nose. She's 11.

Some common cold viruses are coronaviruses, the hope is that Covid-19 will eventually become the same.
Childhood exposure makes us immune to loads of things, presumably this will be the same.

I'm a few years older than DH. I had no MMR vaccines and acquired natural immunity. He had some jabs and people a bit younger than him had all their jabs. In the western world most of these illnesses only kill off 1 in 5,000 cases. The problem is with older people who have not acquired immunity in childhood naturally or by jabs.

This is what s going to USA and infecting the natives felt like. But not nearly as nasty as smallpox. Give it a few years and this will be like another common cold. But right now, without vaccines 1 in 650 die.

A cold is a symptom of the delta variant. I am on day 10 of Covid and have a cold too amongst many other symptoms l

Yes, I'd read that the delta variant could cause common cold symptoms. It's the fact that all other symptoms are gone now, and it feels exactly like a cold cold. Covid is certainly doing a good job impersonating the rinovirus!

We've got covid in our house and no one has the 'classic' symptoms.

DH has a head cold and sore throat,
DD1 has a runny nose and fatigue
DD2 is just much more irritable than usual and I have no symptoms at all.

Both myself and husband have tested positive with our PCR tests.

It's a sneaky virus, that's for sure.

Runny nose and headache are the 2 main symptoms of covid now if you have been fully vaccinated.
